Travel Required: None Public Trust: None Requisition Type: Regular Created after 9-11-2001, the Department of Homeland Security consolidated numerous agencies' data centers for central management. General Dynamics IT plays a key role in the Department's IT integration strategy through its Data Center-1 program. GDIT's DC-1 program is committed to delivering an efficient, responsive, and mature data center operation through excellence in service delivery, performance, and continual service improvement. Responsibilities- Responsible for driving technical service resolution and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction through pre- and post-engineering technical/functional support to current and prospective customers. This position is responsible for providing systems engineering support for customers in a 24x7 service organization.
- Acts as a lead customer issue resolution engineer and takes ownership of all assigned tickets.
- Performs the duties of Level 2 Engineer as assigned.
- Coordinates with Design/Engineering to formulate highly complex technical solutions. Identifies and implements solutions based on client needs.
- Provides technical solutions and escalated support for non-routine, highly complex technical issues.
- Mentors and provides guidance to less experienced personnel.
- Assists in evaluating products and upgrades for compatibility. Assists in implementing system upgrade strategies.
- Assists in developing and analyzing highly complex system standards, thresholds, and recommendations to maximize system performance.
- Conducts capacity planning reviews with management and approves capacity plans formulated by less experienced personnel.
- Assists in developing strategies to manage the frequency of appropriate support package/patch application. Monitors database maintenance and provides appropriate recommendations, when required. Implements solutions and refines procedures as appropriate in conjunction with management.
- Administration of ScienceLogic's SL1 Extended Architecture and PowerFlow platforms including patching; troubleshooting; account creation/maintenance; Linux SysAdmin functions; management of back-end; performing SQLServer (MariaDB) database activity; Linux Bash shell scripting; understanding of Perl/Python/Bash scripts; discovery; configuration; threshold management; event analysis; and dashboard creation
- Troubleshoot communication problems with SNMP and WinRM/Powershell.
- Troubleshoot digital certificates using the OpenSSL utility.
- BS/BA or equivalent and 5 years of experience
- Experience with monitoring and event management tools (examples: ScienceLogic EM7, BMC Suite / BMC Patrol, SolarWinds, etc.)
- Experience and familiarity with Linux and Windows OS operating systems.
- Experience constructing SQL commands to display table data and delete or modify records based on selection criteria.
- Must be able to participate on rotating shift coverage's, as needed to support organizational goals; Participate in the company on call program, as needed to support organizational goals.
- Additional experience a plus: Linux, Windows Server, Exchange Server, Active Directory, Group Policies, Patch management, Log management, WSUS, SCOM, VMWare.
- ScienceLogic Certified Professional; ScienceLogic Certified Expert desured'
- LPIC, ITIL nice to have
