SafetyChain Software is the leading provider of Plant Management Software for Food, CPG and Beyond. We are looking for a domain expert who can translate their past experience into the functional end user requirements needed to build great software products.

In this role you would collaborate with developers and other software professionals to turn practical real world knowledge to the kinds of tools you only wished you had in your current role.

SafetyChain Software is looking for a Business Analyst to join our Engineering team at our Novato, CA office. Reporting to the Director of Development, this role will work closely with our product management, and engineering teams to define, design, document functional requirements for SafetyChain s web and mobile solutions.

What you'll do:

As part of the Product Management team, the Business Analyst collaborates with Customers and Subject Matter Experts to gain in-depth understanding of business needs, workflows, procedures and constraints to define functional solutions that support business. In this role, the Business Analyst is responsible for managing the product backlog including writing user stories and acceptance criteria.and communicating effectively to developers and other stakeholders.

Success in this role means that released features/solutions meet the defined business requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Becomes Subject Matter Expert of SafetyChain Solution Suite s functionality.

  • Gains in-depth understanding of production and manufacturing.

  • Work with Product Management to execute SafetyChain roadmap.

  • Work with SafetyChain Business Subject Matter Experts to understand business processes, workflows, and requirements.

  • Documents requirements, defines scope and features included in the SafetyChain roadmap.

  • Prioritize all stories to ensure the team focuses on those with maximum business value that align with product strategy.

  • Plan sprint iterations.

  • Assists in all phases of Software Development Cycle.

  • Assists in development feature test plans testing.

  • Prepares and delivers presentations on product functionality for internal training needs.

  • Analyses and assesses functionality gaps based on customer feedback.

  • Ability to operate in a fast moving, team oriented, collaborative environment with tight deadlines.

  • Develops best practice guidance for utilization of new features.

Our Ideal Candidate

  • 4+ years experience as a Business Analyst or similar role in a technical field.

  • Experience working in a SaaS environment.

  • Experience with Enterprise Applications such as ERP or similar.

  • Experience in a highly regulated industry such as Life Science, Pharmacy, Food industry Production, Quality or Food Safety is a plus.

  • Previous experience in a developer or technical role is a plus.

  • Proven ability to work well in a group, as well as alone and unsupervised.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to understand and articulate technical requirements in a technical and non-technical language.

  • Solid understanding of traditional SDLC and Agile processes.

This position is required to be in the Novato, CA office at least 3 days a week under non-pandemic conditions.

Some travel may be required. It may require working in front of a computer for prolonged periods of time.
