Your Role

The IT Contracting and Asset Management Team supports three major service areas at Blue Shield: 1) technology contracting and negotiation expertise, supporting best in class contract terms and market competitive pricing; 2) procurement of hardware and software on a competitive basis to obtain best pricing and manage the assets through their lifecycle to ensure contract compliance and proper disposal/decommissioning at the end of the term and 3) the management of strategic suppliers to ensure Blue Shield receives the benefits and expected outcomes of the services, with a focus on reducing and avoiding costs.

The IT Asset Analyst - Consultant will report to the Director of IT Contracting and Asset Management. In this role you will engage in the strategic contracting efforts of the IT Department and the enterprise by negotiating a wide variety of contract types, including software, SaaS, professional services and others in support of Blue Shield's goals and objectives. You will work cooperatively with your team members and stakeholders throughout the Blue Shield organization to understand their needs and support them with your efforts. You will also be responsible for compliance with all Blue Shield policies and procedures that relate to procurement, contracting and supplier management.

Your Work

In this role, you will:
  • Act as a trusted advisor and provide guidance to business partners on IT procurement and contracting, negotiations and supplier management.
  • Negotiate best possible terms and conditions and pricing for IT and enterprise contracts assigned to you.
  • Manage supplier selection process when engaging in competitive procurements as applicable.
  • Prepare contract summary documentation for complex contracts for use in managing the assigned vendors.
  • Provide financial analysis and spend reports as requested by stakeholders.
  • Plan and attend assigned vendor governance sessions, and prepares spend and performance dashboards.
  • Support requestors with any supplier disputes or contract inquires.
  • Engage with suppliers to discuss performance or contract issues, as requested.
  • Special projects as requested

Your Knowledge and Experience
  • Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Requires at least 7 years of prior relevant experience
  • Requires technology contracting experience including software, SaaS
  • Experience contracting and negotiating with global IT mega-suppliers, such as SalesForce, Microsoft, Oracle, Google, etc.
  • Knowledge of contracting with Cloud platform providers
  • MBA or JD preferred
