Your Role

The Security Insights team contextualizes threat and vulnerability information for Blue Shield to assess, report, and track cyber risk. The Security Data Analyst, Experienced position will report to the Sr. Manager of Security Insights. In this role you will mine and interpret multiple voluminous sources of data and perform exploratory data analysis to identify patterns, answer questions about cyber risk, and develop compelling visualizations to support your analysis.

Your Work

In this role, you will:

  • Be responsible for performing data analysis which includes inspecting, profiling, transforming with the goal of discovering useful information, suggesting conclusions, and supporting decision making
  • Perform data analysis, gap and impact analysis for medium to large sized assignment (with med/large number of data elements, one-to-multiple sources, business impact, and visibility)
  • Use documented procedures to create source-to-target mapping, document codemap capturing business and technical metadata, and complete data linkage
  • Perform data profiling, present findings to various audiences, and propose options
  • Perform adhoc, live research to demonstrate/present data issues, patterns, relationships, findings and/or recommendations
  • Create detection logic, models, tooling, and frameworks to help Security Operations
  • Partner with other engineering and security teams to improve our detection capabilities across the organization
  • Understand end-to-end data processes and flows and use that knowledge to design and implement data management solutions.
  • Perform root-cause analysis on data related system problems and recommend or execute corrective action.

Your Knowledge and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, or IT
  • Technical and Soft Skills Required
  • Knowledge of Linear Algebra, Statistics, and Mathematics concepts
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly motivated, self-learner, team player, and technically inquisitive
  • Strong work ethic and creative problem-solving abilities
