Restoring Families.®Position Summary: Alongside the Residential Manager, the Lead Nurse is responsible in assisting with leading and mentoring the work of the nursing team. The responsibilities will include 50% of clinical care including direct client care and 50% of administrative duties including chart audits, reviewing policies and procedures, communication with clients’ parents, outside providers and other members of the treatment team.Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.

Guarantees the overall nursing policies, procedures, and services are being adhered to.

Assists with Newport Academy nursing team and staffing schedules.

Assists with interview processes alongside the Residential Manager.

Available for on-call assistance when no nurse is present on shift.

Administers new hire training orientation training for LVN’s.

Assists the Residential Manager in ensuring that LVN’s are current in competencies, performance evaluations, licensure, certifications, and other annual training in accordance with Joint Commission Standards.

Provide direct patient care and is responsible for assessing, planning, and evaluating patients.

Morning and evening medication administration for all houses.

Obtain weekly vital signs and document this data in medical record.

Complete nursing evaluations as indicated by licensing guidelines.

Evaluation of any medical complaint/concern from a resident/client during on-site hours and relay information to appropriate NP/MD.

Completion treatment plans when indicated.

Maintain accurate medication administration records (MAR) either on paper or in electronic medical.

Ensure accurate and timely initiation of medications and arrival of medications from pharmacy.

Communicate with care coordinators (CCs) regarding medication concerns.

Order all medication refills in a timely manner.

Destroy medications per DEA protocol.

Coordinate with operations staff to order any/all medical equipment.

May include phlebotomy.

Education and Experience Required:

Licensed Vocational Nurse.

Associates degree, Bachelors preferred but not required.

Experience in mental health and/or substance abuse preferred.
