Information Technology Intern

The IT Intern is responsible for identifying, researching and resolving technical issues to the best of their ability. We expect our intern to respond to telephone calls, emails and user requests for technical support as well as document, track and monitor the problem to ensure a timely resolution. The ideal candidate will support the Information Technology Department in all areas. IT Security concerns and best practices must be paramount in all job activities. The IT intern will support the deployment of new equipment and technologies alongside troubleshooting existing systems and end-user issues.

Responsibilities:

- Interface with users, identify and resolve problems, escalate unresolved trouble tickets as appropriate, and track calls

- Install, maintain, upgrade, and troubleshoot various applications in a Microsoft Windows, Mac, and Linux Environment

- Utilize help desk ticket system (spiceworks) by inputting, updating and closing tickets

- Work with Technology staff to field basic trouble tickets and service requests

- Assist with support of phone system, telephones and cell phones

- Distribute new PCs, Macs, and laptops

- Assist with hardware inventory

- Plan, design and implement special projects at the direction of IT Staff

- Assist in improving the efficiency of the IT Dept.

- Prepare documentation related to IT policies and procedures

Skills and Requirements

- A passion for IT and Customer Support

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

- Ability to logically define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

- Demonstrate strong organizational skills and attention to detail

- Work on multiple tasks simultaneously with regular interruptions

- Complete tasks effectively within a reasonable amount of time

- Follow and apply specific IT policies

- Proactively acknowledge when there is a problem

- Actively look for ways to help the end user

- Familiarity with computers; experience with office productivity suites and web based applications

- Strong interpersonal skills and a desire to work with people

- Analytical, structured approach to problem solving.

- Detail oriented, organized

- Strong writing skills and a desire to diligently document common processes and procedures

- Desire to gain experience as a computer service professional

-Ability to work in a very fast-paced and dynamic environment, while managing multiple projects/priorities.

- Provide assistance with IT projects as needed.

- Other duties as assigned.

Applicant Must:

- Must be a US Citizen or US Permanent Resident.

- Be able to pass a background check

- Have a valid drivers license.

- We don't sponsor any visas.

- The time requirement is 30-40 hours per week.
