Akin to all other positions at our organization, the Systems Engineer is an integral part of our team. This second-tier position serves not only to supplement our teams general capability to deploy systems such as hypervisors, firewalls, and Windows servers, but also to serve as a mentor to those who they work alongside with and assist with any escalations during the product/service lifecycle.

Regarding technical experience, candidates should be familiar with the following systems and scenarios:
ESXi and Hyper-V hypervisors
- Bare setup
- Monitoring
- Remediation
- VM setup & maintenance
- Backups
Windows Server 2003 Current
- Multisite Active Directory
- DNS (Internal & External)
- DHCP
- Print Servers
- File Servers
- Application Servers
- RDS environments (SH and VDI)
Microsoft Exchange & 365
- General usage scenarios including hybrid, AD Azure Connect, standalone, SBS, & split role environments.
- Email Filters
- Security mechanisms
- Outlook nuances & configurations
Firewalls
- Competency in at least two of the following: Fortinet, Sonicwall, Cisco ASA, Meraki, Palo Alto
- Bare setup, migration and tear down
- Setup/Modification of NAT & ACL policies
- Ability to setup DIA, MPLS, VLANs, execute migrations, failovers (WAN & HA), VPN (site-to-site and client-to-network), light routing, and other.
- LDAP & XAUTH integrations
Switching & Wireless
- Competency with ideally CCNA level ability (VLANs, STP, routing, etc.)
- General knowledge of WiFi systems such as, 802.11 protocols (b/a/g/n/ac/ax), controller-based & autonomous systems, propagation physics, frequency ranges, distances, and other general performance considerations.
VoIP
- Competency with TDM vs SIP systems is ideal but not required.
- General knowledge of how to deploy, migrate, and maintain on-premise and hosted PBX solutions
- Experience with maintaining VoIP systems, adding users, resetting PIN codes, call flows, AA systems, is preferred.
Workstations
- Last but not least, this candidate should have experience recommending, procuring, preparing, deploying and maintaining Windows based systems along with common programs such as Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office, and other.
Beyond the common duties mentioned above, on-call duty is a requirement, which is on a rotational basis.
