Wheelchair-disabled former local businessman, school principle, pastor (58) is looking for one to two part-time in-home assistants for general home management and personal assisting. Position may include assisting with computer operation, reading, taking notes, assisting with movement/stretching routines, using equipment such as a TENS unit or using lift to transfer patient from one chair to another. Hours are somewhat flexible. Looking for assistance part time (hours depend on skills) and on call for emergencies.
You must have good people skills, familiarity with chronic illness or nursing, be emotionally mature, in good health yourself, have an interest in healthy nutrition/food prep and value interpersonal relationships. We are looking for reliability, a good sense of humor, and a sunny personality. Must be able to communicate effectively and think outside-the-box.
Client has a long-term disability, so this position will be on-going and dependable for the successful applicants.
This is an IHSS position paying $12.00/hr plus long-term caregivers union benefits and perks. Requires a background check for IHSS even if you already have one through another county department (i.e. child services).
Depending on your skill set, there are other work opportunities (handyman, yard work, office/computer, business) outside the current IHSS job as well as upcoming opportunities. Office experience, or post-grad background a plus.
Preference will be given to individuals already registered with IHSS who are non-smokers.
