ARMED SECURITY OFFICER JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Armed Security Officer
Reports to: Operations Manager
Location: Los Angeles, California
FLSA Status: (Full-time, non-exempt or Part-time, non-exempt)
Hourly Rate: Varies based on experience
Summary/Objective:
An NSC Armed Security Officer is responsible for responding to unusual or emergency situations at client site, using the appropriate escalation of force level up to and including armed response by following established protocol; maintain proficiency in the use of all assigned protective equipment, restraint devices and weapons; control access to client site or facility through the admittance process; preclude unauthorized access to facilities, including preventing theft or intentional destruction of physical assets.
Responsibilities:
Maintain awareness and familiarity with the site-specific operations and post orders
Ensure facilities are provided with high quality security services to protect people and property
Monitor and control entrances and exits preventing unapproved or unlawful entry, including the movement of people, vehicles, and parking where necessary
Preserve order and act to enforce regulations and directives for client site
Build and maintain effective relationships with both client and guests
Greet guests in a cheerful and welcoming manner, including answering questions and assisting guests as needed
Observe and report activities and incidents, providing for the security/safety of client property/guests
Patrol on foot or in a vehicle, making periodic rounds to check for irregularities and to inspect protection devices and equipment
Monitor CCTV systems and alarms, where appropriate
Report safety concerns, security breaches and unusual circumstances; prepare logs and reports as required
Participate in industry specific security/safety training programs to offer our clients the best trained officers at their sites
Meet and continue to meet any applicable state, county and municipal licensing and permit requirements for Armed Security Officers and specific protective device and weapons qualifications
Qualifications:
Must have a High School Diploma or GED; college education preferred
Minimum of 2 years’ experience as an armed security officer or law enforcement or military
Ability to operate radio or telephone equipment and/or console monitors
Ability to interact cordially and communicate with the public
Effective oral and written communication skills, as well as active listening skills
Ability to assess and evaluate situations effectively
Ability to identify critical issues quickly and accurately
Must have access to reliable transportation
BSIS Exposed Firearms Card; BSIS Guard Card; (all required)
Must be at least 18 years old or the minimum age required by the State
Must be willing to participate in the Company's pre-employment screening process, including drug screen and background investigation
