Maxar is seeking a Chemical or Electrical Engineer for a full-time role as a Battery Engineer located in our Palo Alto, CA office. In this role, you will work closely with other engineers and scientists as part of a fast-moving, cross-functional R&D team, and participate in the creation and implementation of Battery Products. The Power Products Organization is responsible for the design, development and management of products supporting our power system manufactured in house and by our subcontractors.Responsibilities:- Responsible Engineer for the design, development of both in house and subcontracted battery hardware.
- Responsible for evaluating active and inactive cell components and recommending formulations and cell designs to meet product and process requirements.
- Create product specifications, design details, interfaces, test plans/procedures, and processes based on program requirements
- Assist in the integration of subcontracted hardware into spacecraft systems architecture
- Manage contract commitments including technical requirements, cost and schedule
- Over all aspects of the project, set deadlines, assign responsibilities and ensure progress of the project.
- Assist in the definition of the project scope and objectives.
- Develop appropriate tools to monitor and track progress
- Define resource needs and availability. Obtain commitments from external organizations for resources
- Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure all technical aspects are considered and addressed.
- Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule and project costs using appropriate validation.
- Perform risk management to minimize risks in design, schedule and financial scope.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Electrical Engineering
- 2 years of related work experience (A Masters degree may count for 2 years of experience)
- Experience in battery products and electrical string analysis
- Experience in the manufacturing and assembly of battery cells and battery systems'
- Exposure or studies in physics, material science and electro-chemistry
- Experience in project/program management, engineering, or manufacturing
- Understanding of design practices for release, redline, and engineering change notice processes
- Knowledge in skills such as Electronics assembly and Schematic Design
- Understanding of PRO-E CAD modeling
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
- Strong project management skills
- Comfortable working on interdisciplinary teams internally and externally
