Maxar is currently seeking an Electric Propulsion Engineer with experience in component testing, to join our team in Palo Alto, CA. In this role, you will test and qualify thrusters, tanks, propellant valves, and other hardware needed for electric propulsion subsystems. You'll manage vendor development of these items, work with customers to develop operational strategies, and develop innovative solutions that lower cost and improve performance of propulsion systems. Responsibilities:- Manage the technical details of vendor development efforts for subcontracted components
- Test and qualify electric propulsion satellite propulsion components and assemblies
- Write propulsion hardware performance specifications and test requirements
- Create 3D models and release drawings
- Participate in design reviews, review test data, and resolve manufacturing issues
- Perform analyses to demonstrate that the hardware is compliant to the requirements
- Must = or permanent resident
- Master's degree in an engineering or related field
- 3 years of relevant work experience
- Experience with electric propulsion hardware
- PhD in Engineering or related discipline
- Experience with hall thrusters, ion thrusters, colloid thrusters, or other electric propulsion technologies
- Experience with gas feed systems and tanks
- Ability to create CAD models
- Ability to perform thermal, structural, and fluid analyses
