Life With Maxar

Your Projects

The design mix changes by customer, but often a single program requires a mix of tweaking old designs and developing new ones, such as our industry-leading Ka-band solid-state power amplifiers. Our interdisciplinary team designs the housings, the circuit boards, and even the chips. Of course, the transition from a paper design to actual production is not always easy, so we work closely with the manufacturing team to make sure that a new design is producible and that issues are resolved.

Your Career

At Maxar, you will work with team members, like yourself, who are dedicated to producing cutting-edge technology. Depending on your goals for personal growth, we offer the flexibility to transition to new roles throughout the satellite manufacturing facilities or to remain focused on RF design. In either case you will work with your manager and with technical leads to develop goals and plan challenging work to advance your career.

Your Day-to-Day Role
  • Develop specifications in conjunction with other Maxar teams.
  • Innovate to improve the RF Active product lines.
  • Design and analyze units, circuits, and components to meet performance, cost, schedule, design for x (DFx), and quality goals.
  • Support manufacturing throughout fabrication, assembly, and test.
  • Present at customer meetings and review boards.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field. Four additional years of experience may be substituted for a degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
  • Expert in Local Oscillator design (MLO, MRO, DRO, etc.)
  • GaAs and/or GaN circuit design/test experience
  • Low phase noise circuitry design/test experience
  • Experience in characterizing and creating component models to simulate circuit behavior
  • Hands on experience with millimeter wave (mmWave) component measurements
  • Typical design tool experience such as Advanced Design Systems (ADS), Applied Wave Research (AWR), Sonnet, or CST Microwave

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Hands on experience with millimeter wave (mmWave) component measurements up to 60 GHz
  • Master's degree in engineering
  • Possess excellent interpersonal and team building skills
