Please review the job details below.The Platform Unit Electrical Design group is responsible for development of new space electronics units for SSL spacecraft. This includes spacecraft power regulation and distribution equipment which interfaces with state of the art solar array and battery technologies to provide up to 25kW of power to spacecraft payload and bus equipment. As a Senior Staff Electronic System Design Engineer, you would be responsible for designing, analyzing and testing new electronics boards and units from prototypes through qualification. You would lead a team of junior power electronics engineers to develop all the circuits cards needed for a complex power distribution or control unit, for either earth-orbiting or interplanetary spacecraftEssential Functions:

Responsible for the design of electronics units for flight systems

Lead a development effort including defining all required analysis and testing

Defines electrical performance requirements for modules and subsystems

Create and release electrical schematics

Create and release circuit simulations and analysis

Lead engineering development tests and releases test summaries

Responsible for product design reviews with management and customers

Lead organizational improvement efforts

Scope and Supervision:

Receives broad assignments with limited supervision

May direct engineers and other personal on a task basis

Performs significant technical writing

Contributes to or leads technical proposals

Position Requirements: Required Education, Experience & Technical Competencies:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, a related discipline or equivalent experience

Minimum of 10 years of experience in electrical circuit design (8 with MS, 4 with PhD)

Advanced understanding of mathematics, physics, and chemistry as they relate to electrical circuits

Advanced expertise in the use of electrical simulation tools (e.g., SPICE)

Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office tools

Thorough knowledge of analog and digital electronics state-of-the-art designs
