Maxar is seeking a Mechanical Manufacturing Engineer to join our mechanical vehicle engineering team in Palo Alto, CA. In this role, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating and executing the mechanical assembly, integration and test of satellite final phase assemblies therefore ensuring the spacecraft mechanical build is consistent with the design, following process/procedure, engineering drawing and in support of the spacecraft schedule.

Responsibilities:
  • Planning and execution of complex spacecraft mechanical assemblies including spacecraft flight preparations.
  • Follow stablished processes and innovate the most efficient, yet sufficiently thorough method of solving assembly problems.
  • Utilize knowledge of general mechanical integration processes, product structure, manufacturing standards and released integration processes.
  • Produce Assembly Sequence Instruction (ASIs), Rework orders, or Non-conformance Reports (NCRs) for spacecraft integration.
  • Provide the mechanical assembly technicians with an effective and organized daily spacecraft Task Plan in adherence to process, latest design drawings revisions and directing the technician team in support of the spacecraft manager's goals and objectives.
  • Produce and manage the in-house databases of assembly information and records, utilizing Microsoft tools such as Excel, Word and Project.
  • Manage flight and non-flight equipment as required for spacecraft assembly.
  • Attend regular meetings pertaining to spacecraft status, planning, design for manufacturing (DFM), and configuration issues.
  • As a Test Conductor, perform critical operations directing a crew of personnel to move spacecraft or flight hardware to new location or integration fixture.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical manufacturing issues and provide recommendations to keep production on track and improve the design.
  • Receive general assignments with periodic supervision.
  • Provide functional guidance to less experienced personnel.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline such as Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology, Industrial Management or a related engineering field. Four additional years of experience may be substituted for a degree.
  • 5 years of experience
  • Proficiency in the use of computer aided design tools such as Creo, Solidworks or Autocad
  • Proficient with MS applications, such as Word and Excel

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience using product lifecycle management (PLM) or manufacturing execution system software in the manufacturing of assemblies.
  • Experience with any computer aid design or pro-engineering software for the design, development, or analysis of an assembly.
  • Experience with USG programs.
  • Demonstrate through personal or work experience a passion to build or managing a build of a mechanical-electrical assembly or machine.
  • Demonstration of strong written and verbal communication skills.
