Maxar is seeking an Attitude and Controls Systems (ACS) External Product Engineer to join our ACS Engineering team and manage the procurement of ACS sensors and actuators. This position is ideal for someone who possesses a strong technical background with the soft skills needed to manage suppliers and coordinate with internal systems engineering groups. Responsibilities:- Collaborate with ACS systems engineers to define the appropriate subcontracted hardware for each program.
- Work across multiple Systems Engineering groups to negotiate unit level performance specifications that can be procured from both domestic and international suppliers.
- Work with the Subcontracts Administration group evaluate proposals from multiple suppliers to identify the proposal with best performance/schedule/reliability/risk profile.
- Generate technical documentation in coordination with supplier such as Interface Control Drawings, Equipment Qualification by Similarity Reports, Design Review Presentations, Non-Compliance Reports, Qualification Compliance Reports, etc.
- Ensure supplier compliance to technical performance requirements throughout the design-production-test phases, while concurrently meeting schedule/cost/reliability needs.
- Meet and present at customer technical meetings on behalf of, or in conjunction with supplier.
- Review supplier provided documentation and analysis, coordinating reviews with necessary internal stakeholders in a timely manner.
- Support and resolve technical issues that arise to resolution.
- Provide product-related support to spacecraft level integration and test
- Evaluate new ACS hardware solutions with an eye on lowering cost and/or expanding the product line capabilities.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline
- 5 years of relevant experience (Masters degree may be substituted for 2 years of experience)
- Experience managing complicated subcontracted assemblies through design, production, and test
- Experience executing the systems engineering discipline, with focus on requirements generation, evaluation, decomposition, synthesis, and flow down
- Experience leading cross functional teams
- Experience with design, assembly, and test of ACS satellite hardware like star trackers, sun sensors, torque rods, momentum wheels, or inertial measurement units (IMU).
