At Maxar, we are building upon our 60 year legacy of innovation, from designing the high gain antennas for NASA's Voyager 1 and 2 which have raced beyond the heliosphere through interstellar space to establishing ourselves as the industry leader in geostationary satellites delivering services like broadband internet access, satellite radio, and direct-to-home satellite television. We are now designing the next generation of earth imaging satellites, building the Psyche spacecraft to study asteroids, and partnering with NASA on our PPE program in their effort to return humans to the moon!

To continue as the leader in the space industry, the Systems Engineering organization is looking for a Systems Engineer to participate in front-end systems engineering activities to support our current programs. You will apply systems engineering rigor and discipline to complex programs, converting customer needs into an appropriate design through ConOps development, requirements development, requirements decomposition and flow down. Additionally, you will act as an interface and liaison between the customer and systems engineering team to facilitate communication between the two while resolving key system decision issues. As the program progresses, your focus will transition to verification, integration, and validation activities. We are currently seeking candidates with broad engineering backgrounds along with a strong foundation in a particular technical area to transition into our team.

Specifically, you will be responsible for the following:
  • Interface and act as a liaison between the customer and systems engineering team
  • Develop full system validation and verification plan
  • Oversee spacecraft testing and review test result
  • Generate and maintain compliance matrix for system and sub-systems
  • Concept of operations (ConOps) development and validation
  • Develop, decompose, and flow requirements at the mission, system, sub-system, and component levels
  • Manage requirements development and maintenance
  • Develop and maintain system budgets (mass, power, data)
  • Customer discussions regarding system design and design decisions
  • Ability to define and conceptualize interface & interoperability requirements
  • Connect and work with sub-systems engineers to ensure compliance
  • Support proposals and help explore new business opportunities that capitalize on Maxar's strengths

Minimum Requirements:
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and be willing and able to obtain a Top Secret security clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline, physics, or other technical field.
  • 5 years of engineering or engineering operations experience. A Master's degree may account for two years of work experience.
  • Experience supporting USG programs
  • Knowledge of MS-Office suite

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Current/active TS/SCI clearance
  • Master's degree or higher in an engineering discipline, Physics, or other technical field. General understanding of spacecraft design, space environments and concerns, and space product life cycles
  • Navy nuclear propulsion experience working on US submarines or surface vessels
  • Systems engineering experience in aerospace or related industry
  • Relevant systems engineering experience in aerospace or related industry
  • Experience with requirements management systems (i.e. DOORS, JAMA, etc.)
  • Familiarity with software architecture, verification, and validation
  • Experience with Microsoft Visio
  • Experience coding in C, C, Python, or Matlab & creating software tools for verification activities a plus
  • Good communication and presentation skills and the ability to work in a team environment
  • Familiarity with risk management
