The

Hydroelectric Specialist I (Electrical) will be specialized in electrical skills, experience and knowledge in the practices and procedures of installing, commissioning, maintaining, and operating complex power systems equipment for ongoing operations reliability and uninterrupted service. This includes substation equipment, generation equipment, distribution equipment and protection relay equipment.

Positions assigned to this classification are entry level to the Hydroelectric Specialist classification and are responsible for maintaining equipment at the Districts hydroelectric plants, pumping plants, treatment plants and other facilities. Positions in this classification are distinguished by their responsibility to perform journey-level electrical work while also learning mechanical maintenance work related to power systems equipment. Employee will work under close supervision and will perform progressively higher skilled functions as experience develops through on-the-job and classroom training.

Schedule: Modified 4/10 alternating schedules of: (Tuesday thru Friday & Monday thru Thursday).

This position will require travel to various District facilities throughout the service area, often requiring overnight stay in the project area.

This position is located in the Water System Operations Group, Conveyance and Distribution Section, within the Desert Region Unit at our Gene Pumping Plant in Parker Dam, CA.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:High school diploma or general education development test (GED) with a 4 year electrical apprenticeship AND 2 years of journey level experience;

OR Six (6) years progressive experience related to industrial/utility electrical maintenance.

Experience and knowledge as demonstrated by practical application of techniques and practices specific to the operations, maintenance, and repair of hydroelectric plants, pump plants, treatment plants and other facilities. Skills necessary include predictive and diagnostic evaluation of complex utility pump and power equipment using analog and digital test equipment. Also requires basic skills in installation and commissioning, utilizing predictive, preventive and corrective maintenance practices related to industrial/utility maintenance generally obtained through applicable training and experience.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS

Employees in this position will be required to obtain and maintain the following certifications, licensing and registrations: Valid Drivers license from state of residency equivalent to a California Class A, B, and/or C with appropriate commercial license endorsements

(Valid Drivers license from state of residency equivalent to a California Class C that allows you to drive during the course of your employment is required at time of application.) MWD High Voltage Switching Certification Crane Certification Forklift Certification Respirator Certification
