Maxar builds advanced Robotic systems for a variety applications. Our Robotics are proven on multiple space platforms including Mars landers and rovers. We are currently seeking an Electromechanical Manufacturing Engineer to join our team in Pasadena, CA. In this role you will work closely with design engineering to support production assembly technicians, quality oversight, test and integration of one-of-a-kind/low-quantity wire harnesses and cable assemblies for space flight and non-flight, stand-alone, sub/top level electro-mechanical assemblies including Ground Support Equipment (GSE).

Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the manufacturing process creation and implementation to produce mechanical assembles, electrical cable and harness assemblies and documenting the installation process of components such as temperature sensors, motors, strain gauges, heating elements, and related mechanical devices.
  • Identify tooling and/or equipment requirements.
  • Support operations production planning, coordination and status activity.
  • Provide support to assembly technicians.
  • Participate in disposition, corrective action and cause processes of non-conforming product.
  • Collaborate with design engineering team and assembly technicians during prototype and first-run activity to revise and/or redline instructions as required.
  • May require customer and supplier interface on technical issues
  • Wire Harness, cable assemblies and soldering will reference NASA Std. 8739.1 and/or NASA Std. 8739.4 and/or J-STD-001 with Space Addendum and incorporate commercially available components and wire, shielded and unshielded, single and multi-conductor.

Minimum Requirements:
  • or permanent resident
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering
  • 4 year's of electrical and/or mechanical manufacturing process creation experience or implementation.
  • Experience with J STD 001 + Space Addendum, NASA 8739.1 and NASA 8739.4
  • Experience with CAD software; preferably SolidWorks
  • Extensive experience creating detailed step-by-step, item-by-item assembly and test documentation.
  • Proficient schematics and circuit diagrams, engineering drawings, BOM and indentured parts lists.
  • Work knowledge in mechanical assembly methods and electrical processes including wire cutting, striping, splicing, contact or terminal crimping, marking, solder sleeve, heat shrinking and soldering.
  • Experience with electrical testing including continuity, insulation resistance, and dielectric withstand.

Amazing to have:
  • Ability to communicate (written and spoken) effectively with technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to management and customers.
  • Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.)
  • Understanding of Lean Mfg. principles a plus.
  • Ability to develop cost improvement benefit analyses
  • Experience with SolidWorks CAD software is desired.
  • Experience with molding/potting and shielding.
  • Estimating new business
  • Understanding basic machining methodology
