We are looking for a Chaplain at St Joseph Hospital!Location: Petaluma Valley Hospital – Petaluma, CASchedule: Per DiemShift: Day – 8 hoursJob Summary:Provides spiritual assessment and delivery of spiritual support services to hospice patient/families in keeping with their belief systems. Able to provide empathetic spiritual support to families with varied and diverse viewpoints. Maintains relationship with community clergy. Assists hospice patient/family members in connecting with community clergy as needed. Provides spiritual education and leadership for hospice staff and volunteers.Essential Functions:

Demonstrates competency in conducting assessments of patient/families’ spiritual needs and concerns.

Demonstrates competency in being able to relate to and sensitively serve patients of differing religious and spiritual backgrounds and orientations and belief systems.

Able to provide spiritual support, education and leadership to hospice staff and volunteers.

Demonstrates skill and competency in pastoral counseling around end-of-life issues.

Is familiar with and able to refer patient/families to community religious and spiritual resources.

Is familiar with traditions, prayers and rituals of major different religious groups and community religious leaders.

Demonstrates understanding and knowledge of hospice policies and procedures around child abuse, elder abuse, suicide and substance abuse.

Demonstrates sound understanding of and commitment to hospice philosophy of care.

Demonstrates sound understanding of and commitment to hospice philosophy of team.

Enforces safety policies and procedures and safe practices by staff and volunteers.

Job Qualifications:Education: Graduate of accredited seminary, school of Theology, religious studies or appropriate certification in hospital or pastoral ministry.Experience: Has provided pastoral counseling in health care settings.Licensure: None required.The people of St. Joseph Health have worked for 53 years to improve health and quality of life in California's North Bay region, starting in Sonoma County, where the Sisters of St. Joseph of Orange opened the doors of Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital in 1950.
