DescriptionRobert Half Finance is helping a renowned services company find an ambitious candidate to fill the role of a Controller. This is a leadership role with responsibility over an accounting and clerical department. The Controller plans and directs all accounting operational functions, manages the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, analyzes accounting and internal control systems, and guides departmental staff. Prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, daily cash management
Evaluate, implement and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Present monthly financial reports to executive committee and partners
Advance Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed, with research, planning and implementation
Guide all operations of the finance department, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
Work closely with executive team and partners to facilitate efficient and effective firm-wide operation
Manage the production of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts
Drive the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to ensure the timely cash collection
Responsible for month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis
Able to perform additional tasks beyond formal job duties
Check deliverables of self and team to certify they meet client expectations
Requirements
3+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities
Candidate must possess first-rate analytical, quantitative and social skills
Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment
CPA or MBA preferred - not essential
Outstanding technology, analytics and management experience required
Strong attention to detail
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
Skilled in the construction and delivery of effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds
Prior work done in public accounting is desired
Sound written and verbal communication skills
Month end closings experience
Foundational knowledge in inventory controls
Proficiency in Accounting Functions
Adjusting Journal Entries experience required
