DescriptionIf you're looking to give your accounting career a boost, Accountemps currently has a Staff Accountant position open at a growing firm in the Hi Tech Engineering industry. Located in the Petaluma, California region, the organization offering this long-term temporary-to-full-time opportunity provides rewards to those who dedicate extra effort in the work place. As a Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for preparing monthly and year-end closings, journal entries, fixed asset maintenance, bank reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation. This position will require a fair amount of time dedicated to producing Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. You'll also have responsibility over various aspects of internal reporting during the monthly close. In addition, you will be in charge of communicating with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, playing an active role in compliance, and looking over schedules for the reporting processes.Major responsibilities
Carry out fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
Support implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Ready complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll
Manage the design and creation of balance sheet analysis and communicate reports to management
Commentate on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a useful and understandable manner
Participate in various department-wide initiatives
Execute month end close, journal entries, with little supervision
Maintain monthly payment schedules
Play a role in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation
Ad-hoc tasks and special projects, as needed
Requirements
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Skilled with ERP systems
Experience working in a dynamic and changing company environment a plus
Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills required
Spreadsheet and database capabilities
Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines
Extraordinary analytical, quantitative and social skills
Accounts Payable (AP) experience required
Cost accounting experience
Account reconciliation experience desired
Attention to detail and demonstrated ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
Seizes opportunities to produce results without direct supervision
Recent and relevant accounting experience
Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases
