POSITION SUMMARYThe Senior Staff Accountant of the Finance Department performs
accounting functions in accordance with General Accepted Accounting
Principles (GAAP). Reviews and reconciles various balance sheets and
income statement accounts to ensure accuracy and participates in review
and preparation of financial statements, budgets and internal reports.
Additionally, this position prepares various reports for federal and
state regulatory and reporting agencies and provides information and
assistance to hospital leadership and external auditors. The Senior
Staff Accountant position is responsible for one or more of the
following areas of concentration: Monitors fixed asset tracking and
reporting, calculates and records capitalized interest and researches
GAAP implications on various transactions or activities; calculates
estimated hospital reimbursement on third party contracts such as
Medicare, Medi-Cal and commercial insurance, including traditional
managed care or capitated payment arrangements, as well as bad debt
estimates; prepares detailed supporting documentation and schedules to
facilitate preparation of cost reporting and California Office of
Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD) reporting; prepares
detailed supporting documentation and schedules culminating in
non-profit IRS Form 990 reporting; financial system administration,
includes providing a pivotal role in system conversion. Other duties can
include support of staff members, including the interpretation of OSHPD
guidelines and their application to Marshall Medical Centers operations,
and special projects as assigned.POSITION QUALIFICATIONSEducation/Licensure/ Certification:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field required.
Certified Public Accountant/Certified Management Accountant
(CPA/CMA) preferred.
Must meet all DMV requirements listed below.
Knowledge:
Extensive knowledge of Outlook and Excel.
Microsoft Access knowledge desired.
Experience in variable budgeting, data conversions and facilitation
of software upgrades/conversions.
FRX Reporting and McKesson/HBOC a plus.
Skills:
Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills;
10-key by touch; typing 40+CWPM; ability to work in fast paced
environment with frequent interruptions; ability to reprioritize
workload as needed; ability to handle multiple projects at once;
ability to meet deadlines.
Ability to translate financial accounting issues to non-financial
managers.
Requires: A current CA Driver's License, a clean DMV printout and
proof of automobile insurance coverage in an amount not less than
$50,000 per person/$100,000 per occurrence (or a combined single limit
of $100,000) and property damage coverage in amount not less than
