Our direct client is one of the largest grocery and pharmacy retailers with 2,300+ stores across the U.S. operating many prominent and well-known banners. They are looking for an Observability Engineer Start ASAP Duration: 12 Months Contract. Title: Observability Engineer Location: Pleasanton, CA. Position Purpose looking for a Software Performance Engineer who can participate in the entire spectrum of tasks associated with performance engineering for Supply Chain and Merchandising applications. You will work with a team of Software Engineers, Quality Engineers, Software Architects, and program management. You are hands on and will build an automated test suite to measure system performance using JMeter and other tools, in on-premises and public cloud environments. You will work with project team through the release and agile development cycle. You have solid verbal and written communication skills. You can work with geographically located team members. You have a passion for performance and deeply care about the end user experience. Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Responsible for the development and improve instrumentation for End-to-End monitoring and logging the health and availability of applications and services in Supply Chain and Manufacturing portfolios. Develop and implement automated performance testing strategy/plan to holistically test the applications for ensuring non-functional requirements for performance (such as throughput, latency, Memory/CPU usage, etc.) are met. Proactively monitor systems, networks, and applications to provide input in improving the stability, security, efficiency, and scalability of systems. Collaborate with Product Owners, Solution Architects, SREs, Support & Dev-Ops to assess monitoring and performance improvement areas, and promote resolution of issues Assist with driving monitoring and observability standards to improve the consumer experience of mission-critical applications, services, and business processes with a strong focus on the end-to-end journey. Create and execute performance test scripts, cases, and scenarios that will validate system performance according to workflow and load specifications as well as lead troubleshooting and tuning exercises. Hands-on experience in building robust performance test suites in JMeter/ Blazemeter. Implement CI/CD for Performance as part of the End to-End Enterprise Pipeline. Test and Analyze performance, and work with cross-functional teams to identify bottlenecks across multiple layers of the system and their root cause, impacts on Production infrastructure Must be efficient and flexible to work with multiple teams across different locations and time zones. Qualifications: 7+ years of experience with implementation, operations, maintenance of IT systems, and/or administration of software functions in multi-platform and multi-system environments. Experience implementing and delivering monitoring solutions in development, QA, and Production environments. Hands-on experience working with DevOps & Agile Teams Demonstrate competence in shell scripting and high-level programming languages. Strong focus on python. Must have performance testing experience with public cloud technologies such as Microsoft Azure or GCP using tools like JMeter, BlazeMeter Previous experience defining, creating, and supporting monitoring dashboard Experience with monitoring and observability tools and methodology of products such as Splunk, Elasticsearch, AppDynamics, Dynatrace, SolarWinds, Nagios, Graphite, Grafana, Prometheus, Jarvis, FileGPS Good understanding of performance metrics, KPIs, statistical calculations, machine learning, and correlation. Ability to solve problems across the entire stack - operating systems (Linux/Unix/windows), Load Balancers, software, application, and network. Experience with a variety of modern distributed software tools, e. g. service discovery, containerization, and messaging. Have extensive experience with metrics and logging libraries and aggregators, data analysis, and visualization tools.
