Job DescriptionJoin the Clean Energy RevolutionBecome an Engineer 1 at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you’ll be responsible for responsible for performing automated power flow analysis on SCE’s 4,500+ distribution circuits to determine where distributed energy resources (DER), such as solar and energy storage, can be interconnected with minimal impacts. Ensure the accurate and timely completion of Interconnection Capacity Analysis by performing quality control and data integrity checks on power flow models to ensure convergence

Validate the accuracy of ICA results, identify and resolve issues

Assist in the maintenance of Python scripts and databases utilized to perform automated Interconnection Capacity Analysis

Support the ICA team in the development of methodology and process improvements to meet State-mandated requirements

Support the development of ICA business process documentation

Support ICA team efforts across the organization including inside and outside council and external entities

Support ICA team collaboration with various internal departments within Integrated System Strategy, Engineering, Information Technology, Technology Integration, Regulatory Policy and Affairs, and others

Exercise discretion and engineering judgment in all aspects of duties

QualificationsThe essentials

Must have attained, or be scheduled to attain by June 2020, a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science with significant course work in electrical engineering

The preferred

Knowledge of high voltage electric utility practices and equipment, such as: distribution linefacilities, transformers, generation equipment, industry terminology, and the general functionality of various protective systems.

Excellent computer skills with some knowledge in Python and SQL programming a plus.

Some knowledge of power flow modeling tools such as Eaton CYME, or other similar software.

Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to present information to diverse audiences.

Demonstrate effective resource planning and an ability to stay current with relevant technology and innovation.
