We’re working on smarter grids, cleaner energy and tools to help people manage energy more efficiently.About Transmission and DistributionSouthern California Edison’s (SCE's) Transmission and Distribution Organizational Unit (T & D) is responsible for planning, engineering, constructing, operating, and maintaining transmission and distribution facilities throughout the 50,000-square-mile territory. T&D is the steward of roughly $19 billion in assets that safely and reliably deliver electricity to 14 million residents via SCE’s 5 million customer accounts.Position OverviewThe Business Operations Specialist will support the organizational initiatives & alignment function of the Resource Planning and Project Management organization within Grid Operations. The organizational initiatives & alignment team delivers strategic project support, organizational process / project implementation, initiative development, and organizational support. The individual selected in this role will ensure that the assigned projects, processes, and plans are successfully managed and implemented while engaging project stakeholders on a regular basis to determine progress and task/activity duration, provide updates, analyze impact, and communicate changes back to stakeholders. Key tasks for this position would include working with grid operations leadership, project managers, supervisors, technical leads, and internal partners.The purpose of this position is to provide analysis of complex data and information of SCE’s Grid operations department in support of projects/processes. Functions of this role will be accountable to obtain data from SCE databases, related IT systems, and applications. Functions will include process / project support for program documents, procedures, processing grid outage information; root cause analysis; and project support for Grid Operations Resource Planning and Performance Management (RPPM).Responsibilities may include:

Gathering, quality assurance, and analysis of data related to Grid Operations business functions.

Obtain and compile data/information for Grid Operations business functions and perform analysis of that data/information to ensure performance metrics, organizational Initiatives and departmental goals are met.

Perform data queries utilizing SQL, SAS, SAP, SharePoint and Business Objects to develop reports, trends, analyze system performance and impact analysis.

Provide decisions, support, direction and assistance to internal and external client organizations

Responsible for written and oral communication through his/her analysis, data gathering, recommendations and development of reports, presentations and business plans

Reports, presentations and recommendations will be created based on technical knowledge and detailed analysis for all levels of technical staff, industry professionals and management

Accountable to collaborate with, presenting to, and communicating with leadership, technical experts, engineering, various SCE organizations and external organizations and utilities

Investigate data errors, and organizational performance issues, support cause evaluation, data analysis, trend analysis, developing reports and recommendations, and escalation to appropriate resources.

Provide analysis results and recommendations to organizational personnel, and management for reporting and performance measurement, escalate performance trends and problems

QualificationsMinimum Qualifications

3 years of related experience in business analysis and data acquisition

Two years of SQL and Business Objects data query, data correlation and analysis experience are required.

Desired Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree

5 years of related project analysis experience in project management and/or project team leadership

Advanced analytical skills around Grid Operations business practices, strong problem solving, influential and negotiating skills.

Possesses four or more years of experience in the field of analysis, data acquisition and reporting

Advanced experience in Office 365 Suite is preferred

Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint

Advanced experience in Microsoft Cloud Suite is preferred

Microsoft SharePoint, Power BI, PowerApps, Flow

Advanced experience in SAP

Proficiency in Computer languages:

Virtual basic, HTML, jQuery, JSON, JavaScript

Knowledge of Distribution and/or Transmission Business processes and SCE policies, procedures, objectives and strategies

Thorough knowledge and experience in analysis, data acquisition, documenting analysis and findings, producing recommendations, and the presentation and implementation of strategies for moderate to complex analysis.

Strong interpersonal skills capable of leading and influencing cross-organization/functional teams

Strong collaborator, negotiator, and communicator with strong independent work practices.

Comments

Candidates for this position must be legally authorized to work directly as employees for any employer in the United States without visa sponsorship.

Position will require 15% traveling and being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory.
