Pay Scale: $13.50-15.88 Hourly

$15.18 Starting Rate for Staff with Bachelor's Degree

Victor Treatment Centers (VTC) is a non-profit residential treatment program and non-public school that exists to provide a healthy, healing living environment for severely emotionally disturbed youth who have such great needs that they are not able to succeed in family situations and/or lower levels of care. Children age 8 through 18 who have not been successful in family situations, foster homes, or group homes can find success within the Victor Treatment Centers environments. VTC provides 24/7 supervision in conjunction with intensive mental health services. VTC residential services are based on a foundation of strength-based and relationship-based approaches that support the optimal recovery and resiliency for these youth. Our Mission is "To be a catalyst for sustained improvement in the lives of those we touch."

A Residential Counselor is responsible for the direct care and supervision of the youth assigned to the facility. As a Residential Counselor you will work with the youth to teach LIFE SKILLS and SOCIAL SKILLS that will also reinforce our Agency Core Values.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Supervises youth in home-like environment with the completion of daily tasks, while connecting them with the larger community, and implementing the Victor Residential Program

2. Implements individualized treatment plans in collaboration with clinical and school teams

3. Participates in staff meetings, trainings, and communicates professionally with all treatment team members and outside stakeholders

4. Ensures that the physical needs of the residents are met and passes and documents the use of medications

5. Identifies, reports, and documents youth's needs, behavior, and progress

6. Engages youth in all aspects of daily living, builds professional and mutually respectful relationships with the youth while modeling positive adult behavior and citizenship.

7. Able to implement effective interventions and excellent crisis management skills

Essential Requirements Include:

Direct care staff shall meet one of the following qualifications:

1. A Bachelor of Arts or Sciences Degree.

2. A valid Child Development Teaching Permit.

3. Completed 12 semester units of Early Childhood Education, Adolescent Development, or Foster and Kinship Care Education and have at least 100 hours of experience working with youth.

4. A valid certificate as an Alcohol Counselor, Drug Counselor or Alcohol and Drug Counselor, and have at least 100 hours of experience working with youth.

5. A valid vocational training certificate, credential, or documentation demonstrating that the individual is a trade journeyperson who instructs children in vocational skills and have at least 100 hours of experience working with youth as a mentor, athletic coach, teacher, vocational coach, tutor, counselor, or other relevant experience as determined by the department.

6. Previously been employed as a full time staff or served as a volunteer at a group home, short-term residential therapeutic program, or substance abuse treatment program for at least one year.

7. Relevant life experience in the child welfare, mental health or juvenile justice systems as a consumer, mentor, or caregiver or other relevant experience as determined by the department.

Must be 21 years or older

Must have valid CA driver's license and clean DMV record

Must be able to pass a fingerprint background check

Must be able to pass pre-employment physical including a drug test and physical fitness test

Qualified applicants will also have good communication and writing skills, and have the ability to work individually as well as on a team

CURRENT OPPORTUNITIES

We are currently seeking both FULL time and PART time Nocturnal Counselors (NOC).

3 or 4 nights a week 10:45pm-9:00am

Part-Time: 22-27 hours per week- FLEXIBLE schedules available

TRAINING PROVIDED

We provide an intensive training program for all new hires. Opportunities for advancement are available

Salary: $13.50-15.88/hour DOE BA degree starting wage $15.18 hourly
