Northern California construction company is currently seeking a full time PROJECT ESTIMATOR to join our team. We are a general engineering company, specializing in asphalt paving, excavating and concrete.

Responsibilities:

Read, interpret and analyze bid documents, blueprints, construction specifications and related materials

Prepare estimates by identifying and computing costs based on labor, equipment, material and time requirements

Prepare bid packages, bid documents and their key components including items such as bonding, insurance indemnification and damage clauses

Review subcontractor bids for cost effectiveness and execute subcontractor agreements

Visit site and record information regarding access, topography, availability of services, possible hazards, etc.

Attend pre-bid and jobsite meetings

Confer with engineers, architects, state agencies, owner, contractors, subcontractors and suppliers on project plans

Ensure that any applicable local union and/or federal/state prevailing wage rate guidelines are considered, monitored, implemented and maintained per project bid requirements

Monitor bid invitations and bid websites for appropriate projects to pursue

Research potential job markets and projects to obtain new work

Develop customer relationships to enhance bid opportunities

Work closely with superintendent and project manager to assemble spec books, communicate needs, coordinate construction efforts and ensure project meets and/or exceeds costs and quality standards

Assess cost effectiveness and track actual costs throughout project duration

Maintain a database of internal project costs to facilitate improved estimating practices and accuracy

Ability to read plans and interpret specifications

Requirements:

Minimum 5 years’ experience in construction industry

Minimum 2 years’ experience in construction estimating

Knowledge of asphalt paving, excavating and concrete

Bachelor Degree a plus but not required

Valid California Drivers License
