You’re a critical piece of the solution.Internship Program Overview:This position is part of Southern California Edison’s (SCE) University and Campus Relations Internship Program. The Summer Internship program is a 10-12 week paid opportunity to gain hands-on experience with meaningful work, while developing your skills, and building your network. The internship has an estimated start date of May/June 2020 and an estimated end date of August/September 2020.About Generation:Southern California Edison (SCE’s) Generation is responsible for the safe and reliable operation of all the hydro, solar, gas, combined cycle and fuel cells generation facilities that are owned by the company.The intern will work alongside the plant engineers and O&M personnel to learn about the fundamentals of the power generation processes.Things You Will Be Doing…
Accompany plant engineers in job walks
Shadow plant engineers and O&M personnel to learn the power plant processes
Attend team meetings, Asset Health Committee, Asset Operations Committee meetings
Help develop project proposals by working closely with plant engineers
Review condition monitoring data from the various equipment at the plant
Research industry best practices on preventive maintenance, condition based maintenance, etc.
QualificationsQualifications You Need…
Be currently pursuing aBachelor's or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or closely related field at an accredited institution with a graduation date of December 2020 or later
Other Stuff That Will Set You Up for Success…
GPA of 2.8 or higher
Experience with Microsoft Excel functions such as pivot tables, v-look ups, etc.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
Things You Should Know…
Work location is in Redlands
Some travel to Rosemead will be required
Official transcripts will be verified during the onboarding process
We require you to be legally authorized to work directly as employees for any employer in the United States without visa sponsorship
Relocation/Housing Stipend is not provided
