Northrop Grumman Global Operations Security has an opening for a Networking Communications Manager to manage a team of Network Administrators supporting a classified enterprise WAN. This position is an Information Technology Network Communications Management role within the Enterprise Services department and would be located in Redondo Beach, CA.

The ideal candidate demonstrates a broad skill set that is balanced between interpersonal, business, and technical capabilities. You can collaborate within and across teams to accomplish goals. You have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and you are comfortable engaging with internal and external customers.

Essential Functions:
  • Lead a team of Network Administrators performing direct work on an enterprise WAN
  • Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills with strong interpersonal skills
  • Use good judgement to pursue courses of action necessary to obtain desired results
  • Work closely with program-assigned technicians and systems engineers, and management in order ensure the network and network devices stay in a high state of readiness.
  • Maintain a high quality of system efficiency
  • Ensure government and Cyber/Information Security standards are met.
  • Oversee and manage the quality and timeliness of the organization's products, and identification and remediation of potential issues before they become problems
  • Manage to budgets and schedules and create work assignments for team.
  • Maintains smooth operation of local area, world wide and virtual private networks (VPN)
  • Plans, evaluates, and coordinates installation and/or reconfiguration of hardware and software elements of data and/or voice communication network
  • Maintains technical expertise in all areas of networks and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc.
  • May propose solutions to management to ensure all communications requirements based on future needs and current usage, configuring such solutions to optimize cost savings.
  • Prepares or ensures that appropriate network documentation exists, including operational instructions
  • Provides regular monitoring and network analysis regarding short- and long-range planning for in-house systems
  • May coordinate third-party maintenance for network equipment.
  • May design network or portion of network that include selection of hardware and software packages
Basic Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree and 7 years of experience OR Bachelor's degree and 5 years of experience OR Master's degree with 3 years of management experience; 9 years of experience may be considered in lieu of completed degree.
  • Candidate must have the ability to obtain a DOD Secret level security clearance.
  • Must have a current DoD 8570 IAT level 2 baseline certification (examples include: Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, GSEC, GICSP, CND, SSCP); OR must have the ability to obtain the certification within 6 months of start date
  • Experience with firewalls, switching, and routing
  • Experience with network design, architecture, specifications, and equipment selection
  • Experience working with and obtaining support from network suppliers such as Cisco, Palo Alto, etc.
  • Ability to work after hours and weekends as needed and carry a company phone for possible 'after hours' support
  • Ability to lift equipment weighing up to 40 pounds
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Technology Management
  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance
  • Proven interaction in a distributed team environment
  • A professional certification specific to the networking industry (examples: CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent)
  • Exposure to the Risk Management Framework, associated security controls, and STIGs
  • Experience with HAIPE/TACLANE and other military COMSEC/CRYPTO equipment and procedures
  • Experience with Cisco Unified Communications / VoIP and VTC
  • Experience in the use of network analysis tools (i.e. WireShark, SolarWinds, Opnet, etc.) would be nice to have
  • Expertise with IPv4 and IPv6 network design, including IP subnetting and protocols including BGP, OSPF and EIGRP
  • Strong understanding of features like GRE, IPSEC, DMVPN, IP quality-of-service, VLANs, and multicast
  • Strong understanding network security features like IP access-lists and stateful protocol inspections
  • Familiar with network management protocols, like SNMP, SSH, syslog, RADIUS/TACACS
  • Strong understanding of project management Agile or waterfall
  • Demonstrate strong team building/collaboration skills
  • Proven leadership qualities and strong interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrate exemplary professionalism and ability to maintain composure in stressful situations
  • Demonstrated ability to build diverse/inclusive teams with engaged team members
  • Demonstrated mentoring and coaching skills, and excellent 2-way communication skills (upward and downward)
  • Previous experience leading a team of 5-12 employees with a record of on-time performance
  • Time management and organizational skills to prioritize across concurrent program and functional responsibilities

Salary Range: $98,800 USD - $148,200 USD Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
