Job Description

Come Join Our Team! GDIT is a government contractor providing professional and technical services to various government agencies (i.e. defense). We are currently looking for a Network Engineer to join our winning team. The individual hired for this position will provide support for our government customer, Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division (NAWCWD). This is your opportunity to work in technically advanced, positive, and productive environment. Will serve as an interface and point of contact with Government program authorities on technical and program/project issues. Will assist the GDIT Program Manager in overseeing contractor execution of the contract requirements and employment of program/project resources at customer site. Contributes to completion of milestones associated with specific engineering projects.

NAWCWD primarily operates in two Southern California locations: China Lake and Point Mugu, CA. China Lake Naval Weapons Station experienced earthquakes that caused damage and impacted NAWCWD mission operations. In order to provide improved service capabilities to current and future NAVAIR operations, NAWCWD is modernizing and optimizing the infrastructure that currently supports weapons development and testing activities. Job skills / activities:

Will assist NAWCWD and other China Lake tenants to analyze requirements and current environment, then plan, design, and implement as required the necessary IT infrastructure in support of the Earthquake Recovery IPT. This will include but is not limited to all layers of the RDT&E network, LAN/BAN/WAN infrastructure, WLAN and VoIP.

Will provide guidance and recommendations on active efforts, modernization, lift-and-shift activities, and design improvements.

Will interface with tenants through the Earthquake Recovery IPT to ensure requirements of those tenants are captured adequately for proper design and support.

Will be able to provide troubleshooting and recovery support as required.

Will assist as necessary with input to and build of proper engineering documentation, test and evaluation plans/execution, and accreditation packages.

Provides guidance and leadership to less-experienced network personnel.

May serve as a team or task leader. (Not a people manager)

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- BS (or equivalent experience), 8+ years of experience

- CompTIA, Security +, CCNA and/or equivalent DoD 8570 compliant certification

- Strong fundamental understanding of DoD Enterprise Networks and Architectures

- Experience installing and configuring wired and wireless networks

- Experience implementing 802.1X/802.11 standards

- Experience implementing FIPS encryption standards and PKI

- Deep knowledge of VLANs, subnets, and protocols
