Job Description: The Classroom Technology and Special Events Manager is responsible for support, processes, and procedures related to managing and maintaining technology in the University s large venue areas, conference rooms, classrooms and labs and for event support. This support is inclusive of working collaboratively across the University to define specifications, plan for changes, implement and maintain the technology for the defined use. Additionally, this position will collaborate across schools, departments and within IT to define effective standards, policies, processes and procedures for evaluation, acquisition, and ongoing management and maintenance of University technology spaces and assets. Leading a team of engineers, classroom and remote learning technologists you will work to ensure the technology deployed in supported spaces throughout the University is continually working as designed while continually reviewing and refiningdocumentation and policies for these assets. The incumbent will establish and maintain professional partnership relations with hardware and software vendors which enables early participation in testing and developing projects involving new and emerging technologies. This leader will, at times, represent ITS at campus-wide meetings and represent UCR at system-wide and off-campus meetings, seminars and conferences. The budgeted maximum annual salary for this position is $104,112. Education & Experience Requirements Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training with an emphasis in computer science, data processing, computer information systems, or in a related field. Required Certification Requirements Certification Requirement EducationalCondition Requirements Condition Requirement Key Responsibilities Description % Time Supervises the maintenance and upkeep of AV equipment inventory, media production equipment and facilities as well as fixed AV installations at various sites. Oversee the maintenance, upgrade and installation of fixed computer and multimedia equipment on all General Assignment classrooms as well as the mobile computer/multimedia equipment. Make recommendations on the replacement and upgrade of computer/multimedia equipment. Prepare budge proposals for operational needs, technology driven initiatives and software/hardware requests based on needs assessments,product evaluations, budget constraints, feasibility studies and implementation strategies. Monitor Multimedia servers, software and utilize data for measuring performance. Direct and supervise the work performance and activities of technicians who maintain, upgrade and install equipment and trainusers on the operation of the computer/multimedia equipment. 35 Through subordinate supervisors or professionals, supervises audio visual (AV) and classroom production services in support of campus and academic objectives. 15 Update and maintain web pages for Media Resources to reflect current announcements and information. Create new web pages as required; update hyperlinks as needed and respond to problems/questions concerning the website. 10 Directly supervises staff specialists, outside contractors providing technical support and media production services. 5 Within guidelines of established department budget, purchases equipment and supplies. 5 May select, negotiate and assign outside contractors as required. 5 Supervises technicians supporting classroom, learning, and special events activities. 5 Supervises, trains and schedules personnel that may include students and volunteers. Resolves problems and/or keeps seniormanagement informed as necessary. 5 Participates in developing and monitoring operational and budget processes, staff FTE, finance, human resources and space planning. 5 Participates in the development and monitoring of policies and procedures for department or department operations. 5 Recommends hiring of new employees, salary actions, terminations, and performance ratings. 5 Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge/Skill/Ability Requirement Strong technical skills/experience including Mac/PC, web development, on-line conferencing, multimedia, presentation tools, and emerging technologies.
