Operational and service excellence are our main objectives in everything we do.About the Job…As a Category Manager for Southern California Edison you will partner with clients and contractors to ensure Edison receives the highest value from it’s over $4.5 Billion in annual spend. It’s challenging but rewarding work.Your interpersonal and analytical skills will be fully exercised as you manage a variety of spend categories with a focus on achieving the best value for our rate-payers and our shareholders through cost savings, compliance and risk mitigation. Responsibilities include conducting RFPs, developing category strategies, monitoring contractor performance, participating in cross functional project teams, and advising clients on their business strategies.You will be joining a sincerely appreciated procurement team that supports Edison’s Generation group. This group is responsible for producing approximately 5,000 megawatts of electricity powering Southern California homes and businesses.While your primary location will be at our main campus in Rosemead, CA, the position will also take you from the heights of the Sierra Nevada Mountains to the shores of Catalina Island. The areas and facilities you’ll support will include: Over 30 Hydroelectric generating stations, dams, reservoirs and forebays Over 100 miles of tunnels, penstocks, flumes, and flowlines Large Frame natural gas generating units Peaker generation plants including hybrid battery/gas turbines Water, electric generation and gas facilities on Catalina Island Solar Photovoltaic generation sites across Southern CaliforniaThis position may also support additional Edison workgroups, depending on future demand.Your primary desk will be at our main campus in Rosemead, CA, but you will support all 50,000 square miles of Edison’s territory and there is a possibility for you to co-locate with your client groups at any one of the many field locations within this territory.This position may also require you to support additional Edison workgroups, depending on future demand.Your typical day-to-day accountabilities include… Development and implementation of category strategies and business processes to meet client, department, and organizational objectives. Leading competitive solicitations including jobwalks, bid evaluation, negotiations, supplier selection, and contract development to cultivate value and ensure appropriate risk mitigation. Understanding and applying business tools (financial, logistical, commercial, risk, and cost analysis) to attain desired results. Acting as liaison between the Edison operating unit and its suppliers to execute work efficiently. Implementing and monitoring supplier performance goals related to cost, quality, and service. Occasional driving to hydroelectric facilities around California (e.g. Shaver Lake, Redlands or Kern River). Partnering with your suppliers to ensure adherence to Edison’s SupplierDiversity goals. Maintaining a safety conscious work environment by following Edison safety protocols and safe work practices; and perform other responsibilities and duties as assigned. Crafting inventive buying strategies that expand the value you provide to our ratepayers and the company. Following the Edison values of Safety, Integrity, Excellence, Respect, Continuous Improvement and Teamwork.QualificationsMinimum Qualifications you need… Seven (7) years of experience working with large contracts in a procurement or project management function. Experience with the preparation and execution of contracts as well as performing post-award administration (e.g. negotiating, issuing change orders, contract closeouts, etc…) Persuasive and effective communications (oral and written), with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with contractors, vendors, suppliers and staff across all levels within SCE. Three (3) years of analytical experience, spend analysis and ability to navigate Excel, and other Business Intelligence/ Analytical tools. Strong strategic and analytical thinking with the ability to turn raw data into actionable insights and direction. Also, the ability to present your ideas effectively.Other desired skills and qualifications that will set you up for success … Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business, Supply Chain or related field. Experience working with large contracts (negotiating $100M+ in annual contract spend budget, ranging on average from $250K to $60M for individual contracts) in a procurement or project management function. Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM), Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), Certified Professional Contracts Manager (CPCM), or Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification. Proficiency in performing transactions in our SAP business platform, including Ariba Sourcing Pro and Ariba Contracts Pro. Negotiation and authoring of complex service contracts including EPC and Long Term Service Agreements. Experience leading the competitive proposal process (RFx). Experience with procurement contracts and standard terms and conditions. Experience with service related contracts including fixed price, fixed unit price, time and material contracts. Experience managing multiple projects and clients simultaneously. Ability to apply principles of financial analysis. Excellent oral and written communication skills, including oral presentations, group facilitation and negotiations. Excellent analytical skills with an established ability to scrutinize complex data to make decisions and clearly support those decisions with objective rationale. Effective resource and project planning, decision making, results delivery, team building, and the ability to stay current with relevant technology and innovation.You should know… Candidates for this position must be legally authorized to work directly as employees for any employer in the United States without visa sponsorship. Relocation does not apply to this position. The primary work location for this position is Rosemead, CA. There is a possibility for you to co-locate with your client groups at any one of the many field locations within this territory, including either: Pomona, Santa Ana, or Westminster sites.
