You’re a critical piece of the solution.The Job…The Principal Manager of Pricing Design is responsible for the development, implementation of SCE’s retail electricity tariff rate schedules. This position is responsible for primary development of pricing options, determination of the underlying marginal costs, and the load research studies used to developed pricing a options and complete costs studies. As the key manager responsible for the pricing design phase of SCE’s General Rate Case, this position either directly sponsors or manages staff that directly sponsor testimony related to the marginal cost, revenue allocation, and rate/tariff design exhibits. As part of this and other rate design proceedings, this position interfaces with senior attorneys, managers, directors and VPs within SCE and various CPUC Energy Division staff on a routine basis. In addition to developing SCE testimony, this position’s work team is responsible for the writing and reviewing of SCE’s and other party’s testimony; workshop coordination (as needed), SCE position and rate design model development and delivery; and other general project coordination activity.In addition to core pricing design and marginal costs responsibilities, this position interacts with senior internal/external personnel who rely on her/his leadership to drive issues and organize work necessary to address critical strategic goals for SCE and other California utilities in the areas of: Residential Rate Design OIR; Net Energy Metering subsidy quantification and abatement; Micro-grid OIR; Green Pricing alternatives; Development generation capacity allocation methodologies; Electric transportation rates; Governance and oversight of the Corporate Revenue Reporting Information System (CRRIS); and a variety of other special rate projects and proceedings as they materialize.A day in the life…

Directs staff of project managers and analysts to maintain and update SCE’s existing rate schedules and to ensure they are designed to collect SCE’s ever-changing authorized revenue requirement subject to various state laws, CPUC, and FERC decisions.

Directs staff of project managers, financial, and rate design analysts in the development of policies, strategy, and pricing designs in various rate setting proceedings to include the Residential Rate OIR, the Energy Storage OIR, GRC Phase 1&2, and Green Programs proposal.

Directs staff of project managers and analysts to prepare rate filings that support Corporate pricing objectives (including mitigation of rate subsidies and uneconomic by-pass, appropriate support of Pathway 2045 objectives as they relate to TOU pricing and demand response, and other strategic objectives – e.g. DG-ST and micro-grid OIR). Increasing rate equity will also help avoid extreme customer rate impacts that could be otherwise addressed through revenue requirement reductions, jeopardizing other Corporate strategic goals.

Marginal Cost - Directs staff to perform customer and grid marginal cost studies, to include functional revenue allocation, in support of equitable pricing designs.

QualificationsQualifications you need…

Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Engineering or other related discipline.

Seven years of combined experience leading or managing a technical staff familiar with economics, cost of service studies, cost causation principles, and/or pricing design fundamentals.

Experience with Office applications such as Excel, MS Access, Word, and PowerPoint.

Other stuff that will set you up for success…

Advanced degrees in Business, Economics, Finance, Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Strong oral and written communications skills.

Experience developing and delivering technical presentations to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with CPUC regulations for electric utilities and knowledge of utility ratemaking, tariffs, and contracts.

Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships and work well with others in both small group and cross-functional group environments.

Demonstrated the ability to interface effectively and collaborate with clients, peers, management, and other work units.

Demonstrated ability to motivate self and others to overcome obstacles and achieve goals.

Demonstrated experience writing and preparing testimony and reports.
