- Install, design and maintain database system software.
- Design and create database logical structures by partnering with development teams for business partner data and requirements analysis resulting in an optimized physical database design.
- Monitor and analyze database performance and ensure effective and efficient utilization of database systems/processes.
- Develop and maintain accurate procedural and process related documentation
- Actively participate in the development and maintenance of strategic, architectural and tactical plans for database environments.
- Actively aware of the future direction of systems, how that direction impacts the company, how future and current database systems can be exploited for the company's benefit, and then actively seeking to incorporate this direction into IT infrastructure.
- Implement procedures that follow the business continuity solution for the database environments, including the installation and configuration of database software and replication processes to satisfy corporate RP/RT objectives.
- Maintain database standards for storage, patching, naming conventions, security.
- Be aware of and enforce RDBMS licensing requirements for all supported platforms.
- Actively collaborate with internal customers to understand project priorities within the scope of the enterprise and manage personal/team responsibilities and customer satisfaction accordingly
- Partner with users to determine and develop data models for user reporting needs and ad-hoc reporting based on queries; eradicate existing user data misuse or user data conflicts/duplication.
- 6+ years of hands-on related experience with Oracle including installing, configuring, designing, patching, archiving, monitoring and performance tuning.
- Experience and understanding of storage technology, memory management, disk arrays, and network management
- Must be proficient using Linux command interface
- Tuning of Linux running Oracle
- Experience with Oracle RAC/ASM
- Understanding and experience implementing backup/recovery procedures
- Extensive experience with query tuning and troubleshooting
- Very proficient in Unix shell scripting. Other scripting tools are a plus (java, perl)
- High proficiency in SQL & PL/SQL coding
- Proficient use of RMAN & data pump tools for backup and recovery scenarios
- Experience utilizing various high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) techniques/tools for Oracle
- Experience with Quest's TOAD and/or Oracle's SQL Developer or related tools
- Other database platform hands-on exposure (ie, MS SQL, MySQL, Postgres)
- Knowledgeable and up-to-date regarding industry best practices for Oracle & SQL Server
