Environmental Engineer – 5 to 10 years experience in the environmental engineering field with emphasis on the site cleanup and closure of hazardous waste sites. The position involves performing project delivery, business development and project management tasks for site characterization and remediation projects. The successful candidate will possess the following:

Bachelors degree in Environmental Engineering or closely related field

Experience evaluating engineering alternatives and developing cleanup criteria

Experience preparing reports

Experience managing site characterization and remediation tasks and projects

Knowledge of basic project management and project control principles

Business development skills including preparation of proposals & cost estimates

Experience conducting interviews

Strong focus on client service and client relations

California PE registration

Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental laws and regulations

Experience interacting and negotiating with regulatory agencies

Strong communication and computer skills

Current 40-hour HAZWOPER certification

Desire and aptitude to grow leadership, engineering, project management, and business development capabilities

The Environmental Engineer reports to Senior Project Managers and is expected to perform the following types of duties:

Prepare plans, designs, specifications, estimates, drawings, and engineering reports

Develop and monitor project scope, budgets, and schedules

Manage and lead project teams of 2 to 5 people

Establish and maintain client relationships

Conduct business development activities, including respond to RFPs and RFQs

Prepare proposals and attend interviews

Prepare and negotiate subcontracts, select and manage subcontractors,

Prepare contract change orders and amendments

Monitor contractor’s work and compliance with contract terms

Work with senior staff, clients, and regulators to resolve technical issues and develop solutions to complex engineering and environmental issues
