This customer facing role conveys the value offer of our Advanced Therapies Division comprised of Cell Therapy, Plasmid, mRNA, and our Viral Vector Manufacturing services. This individual is incentivized to nurture high customer touch in a fast-paced quarterly cycle where wins come through trust built in our service level. The Business Development Executive will focus specifically on Viral Vector Services. Based remotely in newly created East Coast territory.What will you do?Prospect pharmaceutical companies seeking CDMO services to qualify new projects with scientists and demonstrate our professional touch as a world class supplier

New Business Development including identifying new molecule opportunities with new or existing clients through understanding of the market, appointment based strategic selling, leveraging personal network, interaction with other PSG (Pharma Services Group) and Thermo Fisher Scientific teams and following up on leads

Deeply understand customer needs to ensure accuracy, timely revision, and fair pricing of our proposals to deliver a memorable customer experience

Help build the sales process and record information in the SFDC database to enable both peers and commercial leadership across the greater Thermo Fisher network to communicate and succeed

Provide voice-of-customer to internal partners and continuously build field sales opinions to evolve our value proposition while in startup mode

Creating and executing sales programs for new prospective clients to increase awareness of our service offering and key differentiators from our competition.

Identifying and presenting our value proposition, including opportunities for strategic bundling of our services

Ability to analyze and understand funding mechanisms and sources and flow of funding for the small emerging biotech element of the territory.

Travel to visit customers and showcase newly built Thermo Fisher sites. Travel to conferences/meetings, within local territory, and to site visits 25-40%

How will you get here?Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as micro-biology, cellular biology, and chemistry required

MBA or post graduate scientific degree preferred

At least 5 years of field sales or business development experience in the life sciences industry, required

Experienced in services with a complex sales cycle, preferred

Customer dedication to relentlessly seek and distill solutions from complexity

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:Ideally has an existing customer network, positive relationships, and knowledge of agreement execution from a previous CDMO business development role

Formal training in a consultative or solution-based sales methodology

Proficiency with SFDC or other customer relationship management tools

Ability to articulate solutions to customers as a trusted advisor. Has sold related products or services to learn a variety of approaches when selling to startups vs. big pharma

Strong presentation skills and ability to network within senior management ranks

Good knowledge of the clinical drug development process

Mindful listener and communicator (written and oral) amidst a fast-paced startup environment.

Leadership experience in an aggressively growing business climate.

Established contacts within pharmaceutical organizations.

Self-starter with documented success selling for a matrixed organization.
