Our client is looking for a Technical Project Manager for their IT Facilities team in Sacramento, CA for a 1+ year contract.

Under the general supervision of the IT Facilities / Implementations supervisor and/or the department manager, the incumbent is responsible for highly complex project planning and management, overseeing and participating in design, development and overall client services project deployment and support. Under minimal direction, this position will act as a project manager for multiple project streams and new strategic initiatives from initiation to completion. The incumbent is an ex pe rience d project and/o r prog ram m an ag er with technical expertise. The position is responsible for all aspects of project life cycle, including workflow process improvements and coaching other project managers. deployment and supporting the client desktop environment and business applications of Information Technology department. This includes but not limited to, new facilities client infrastructure deployment, strategic planning, budgeting, level-3 technical escalations, project management, customer relationship management, technical guidance, client systems planning and Implementation, and other special projects and new initiatives as assigned.

Duties:

  • Management of enterprise-wide (hospital, ambulatory, and research) construction projects as it relates to IT Infrastructure and Technology.
  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge of management and information system trends and professional practice standards.
  • Act as IT Facilities/Implementations project manager for various application and hardware system deployments, including but not limited to Furniture implementations projects (FIG), Planning and FD&C construction projects.
  • Follow all standard project management procedures and complete all necessary documentation during the project life cycle from initiation to completion.
  • Develop project schedules, coordinate resources, communicate to teams to ensure project schedule is on track and within- budget with resources allocated.
  • Schedule, assist with, and participate in meetings with department contacts, project stakeholders, hospital leadership, outside vendors, FD&C and other technology teams to understand and document technology and project related requirements.
  • Communicate requirements for the project budget, including resource requirements so funding can be made available.
  • Assist with project and yearly budget planning, forecasting, updates, and monitoring.
  • Prepare and support budget process, customer relations, staff, timelines, and documentation for projects as assigned.
  • Monitor tasks and schedules assigned to temporary staff and contract resources hired for projects
  • Prepare project documentation, metrics, presentation slides, demos and updates as needed to be used by IT leadership.
  • Meet with campus administration, department heads. planning groups, project users, and appropriate consultants to determine the parameters of the project.
  • Meet stakeholders from different departments to gather necessary requirements and prepare project objectives.
  • List major activities and milestones to perform during each phase of the project, ensuring work assignment are clear to staff.
  • Monitor projects and tasks to make sure they are on track for completion per schedule.
  • Identify project barriers, unforeseen risks, activity dependencies and develop project activity and resource schedules.
  • Escalate issues and decisions as appropriate. to IT manager and other IT leadership.
  • Prepare and conduct oral presentations to provide an overview of the project and/or communicate project status to staff and management.
  • Prepare, create, and maintain multiple project schedules, dashboards and timelines for monitoring and managing the project progress.
  • Schedule, lead and conduct recurring meetings with project participants as needed to obtain or dispense project information.
  • Monitor progress of task completion during each phase of the project cycle: Identify barriers to completing tasks on schedule and recommend actions taken to remove barriers impeding project completion.
  • Actively apply new knowledge in healthcare information technology trends.

Required

  • Minimum of five to 10 years of experience managing IT healthcare and construction projects using sound project management methodologies, principles, and techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects at the same time, prioritize, and allocate resources to complete projects on schedule.
  • Proven analytical and organizational skills to assess, analyze, organize, and monitor project progress and risks.
  • Demonstrated experience in successfully organizing and managing multiple projects, varying workload in a dynamic team environment and coordinate resources in a matrix environment.
  • Experience in conducting technical assessments, preparing reports, and recommend results and solutions, concisely and clearly.
  • Proven experience with sound and independent decision-making skills
  • Demonstrated ability to take direction, feedback and follow proper project documentation procedures during the project life cycle.
  • Proven experience working with IT equipment, including but not limited to computers, printers, monitors etc.
  • Build professional, cohesive, and collaborative relationships with team members, customers, and project stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and explain technical problems in non-technical terms.
  • Proven ability to work with high-level administrators, leaders, faculty, staff, and unsophisticated users effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to work across lines of authority and lines of functional responsibilities collaboratively while maintaining cordial relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skill, along with interpersonal skill to handle issues with tact and diplomacy.

Preferred

  • At least five years of experience working in IT / Healthcare.
  • At least five years of experience with IT technology in a clinical environment
  • At least five years of experience leading construction projects
  • Ability to handle customers with diplomacy and effectiveness. Translate problems into effective solutions and ability to communicate in a non- defensive and an empathetic manner.
  • Possess strong customer service skills and ability to maintain focus on tasks or issues on hand.
  • Ability to express helpful and positive attitude towards faculty, staff in various units in the hospital environment and within IT.
  • Skill in establishing rapport and credibility with others to convey a professional, collaborative and customer-oriented attitude.
  • Working experience supporting and interacting a wide range of administrators, faculty, staff, along with external vendors and other university campuses.
  • Experience with creating and maintaining technical and support documentation.
  • Ability to work cohesively and quickly under pressure of deadlines and critical circumstances.
