The Department of Health Services' Public Health Division seeks candidates for two Health Information Specialist II Positions!
Starting salary up to $37.24/hour ($77,724.35/year), plus, a cash allowance of approximately $600/month
Ideal candidates will possess experience in:Developing program and policy initiatives to improve health in the community
Implementing and evaluating community-based strategies
Conducting community outreach, including the coordination and delivery of training and technical assistance to the community, partners, and stakeholders
Developing and improving systems and protocols for programs and services
Conducting data collection projects, as well as analyzing and reporting on primary and secondary data
Writing for a variety of audiences, as well as synthesizing information from multiple sources
Using professional tools related to: conducting surveys (e.g. survey monkey), giving presentations (e.g. PowerPoint and Prezi), making infographics (e.g. Venngage), developing charts and graphs (e.g. Excel), creating and tracking social media posts (Hootsuite, Canva)Health Information Specialists plan, develop, conduct, implement, and evaluate prevention, health promotion, and health information programs. They perform a wide variety of health information and education activities within an assigned program area, requiring the application of core principles and methods of public health.

Tobacco Use Prevention Program
This position will be responsible for planning, developing, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating strategies designed to reduce the risk of disease and premature death due to smoking and exposure to secondhand smoke. Core activities for the tobacco team include providing education and resources that align with current research and evidence-based policies and practices. Through the use of policy, systems, and environmental (PSE) change strategies, the work occurs in partnership with community groups, government agencies, and healthcare-related organizations and providers.
Additionally, this position is responsible for:Developing, monitoring, and reporting for grants and contracts
Educating and engaging the community
Developing and delivering training and technical assistance to a variety of audiences.
Conducting health assessments
Developing policy and system-level responses
Assuring the accessibility and integrity of services
Measuring the effectiveness of interventionsPublic Health Preparedness Program
This position is responsible for researching, planning, supporting, and developing various aspects of the Department of Health Services' preparedness and response program to effectively address public health threats such as health emergencies and emerging diseases.
Additionally, this position is responsible for:Coordinating and leading the Disaster Healthcare Coalition and regional, statewide, and local disaster preparedness exercises, including completing all related documentation
Supporting data collection, needs assessments, and other assessments of local capabilities in support of medical/health emergency response
Preparing and disseminating information and documents needed for effective operation of the Disaster Healthcare Coalition
Assisting with the development and updating of contracts and MOUs
