We are looking for a reliable, proactive, kind-hearted caregiverfor an in-home position near Old Auburn Road in Citrus Heights. The pay is $120 per shift (9 hour shift from 8 pm to 5 am). Thejob would begin with Friday and Saturday nights, with the possibility of extending to more evenings each week.
The employer is a friendly, courteous quadriplegic man in his 40s (C5/C6 spinal cord injury) who needs help with getting ready for bed.In this position, you could expect to actively work from 8 pm - 11 pm (3 hours), assisting him with exercise, range of motion, oral care, transfers, and bowel program. You would wake up at 3 am for 10 minutes to turn him to avoid bedsores. From 11 pm - 5 am, you would be able to sleep at least 50% of the time, and possibly more. If you wanted to continue to sleep after the shift (until 8 am), that's an option.
Duties include these tasks:
- Stretching/physical therapy
- Transferringfrom wheelchair to bed (employer weighs 185 lbs and has equipment to assist with transfers)
- Assisting with personal hygiene
- Conducting the bowel program
The qualified candidate is calm and patient in working with others and accepts direction gracefully. No smoking is allowed. Employment starts immediately. References will be requested.
