JOB TITLE: CNC Setup Machinist/Programmer
DEPARTMENT: Production
POSITION TYPE: Hourly
COMPENSATION: Based on Experience
JOB SUMMARY: This position will have direct responsibility for (a) setup and operating CNC lathe and mill machines, (b) train, support, and troubleshoot for CNC Operators and (c) program machines with complete knowledge of G and M codes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Other duties may be assigned.)
Create CNC programs using SolidWorks and SolidWorks CAM software.
Perform simple to complex setups and operation of CNC mill and lathe machines.
Proficient understanding and use of precision measuring tools such as calipers, bore gage, micrometer, and others commonly used in a CNC shop.
Verify conformance of finished work pieces to print specification, using precision measuring instruments.
Perform quality assurance tests to ensure products meet design specifications.
Adjust machine cutting paths or settings to optimize production and maintain quality.
Troubleshoot and resolve problems with machines as they arise.
Communicating low inventory of shop tooling, raw materials, and supply.
Train new employees on how to properly operate/set up CNC machines and programs.
BASIC SKILLS:
Able to run/set up machines independently.
Knowledge of tool holders, cutting tools, fixtures, inserts, and other accessories used on CNC machines.
Perform routine maintenance on equipment and determine when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Able to lift 75 pounds.
Able to stand and walk for 2–3-hour intervals.
Able to work in an environment with a moderate to loud noise level.
Periodic exposure to outside weather conditions.
Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and machinery.
QUALIFICATIONS
5+ Years in Operating/Setup of CNC Lathe and Mill Machines.
Able to read blueprints and conduct quality inspection of parts.
High School Diploma or equivalent education required.
Valid driver’s license required.
