We are collecting massive amounts of agronomic data in one of the largest heterogeneous global data footprints and need to continuously improve how we store, connect and distribute this data in a fast, reliable and cost-effective way. This is where your work impacts the world in a positive way.The Principal Data Architect to define an extremely complex domain of data and data access patterns. The right candidate will have a track record of delivering highly complex engineering architectures focused on data pipelines.Responsibilities:Collaborate with business stakeholders, data analysts, data scientists, the Enterprise Data Modeler, architects and engineers to elicit, decipher, and edify requirementsCollaborate with the Enterprise Data Modeler to influence strategic direction and to recommend and implement appropriate data platforms and structures across the various application domains.Collaborate with engineering teams, project managers and business unit leaders for all projects involving enterprise data.Develop and implement long-term strategic road maps and phased plans that mature the data architecture over several years and that support both current and future state business processes.Create short-term tactical solutions to achieve long-term objectives and migrate data from sub-optimized legacy systems to new solutions. Identify and develop opportunities for data reuse, migration, or retirement.Oversee the mapping of data sources, data movement, interfaces, and analyticswith the goal of ensuring data quality, improving delivery, and reducing costs.Collaborate with the Enterprise Data Modeler to design canonical data views, data standards, and procedures.Help design highly-scalable, reliable, and performant pipelines to integrate large volumes of complex data, reduce costs and improve information flowsHelp establish methods and procedures for tracking data quality, completeness, lineage, and improvement.Create strategies and plans for data security, backup, disaster recovery, business continuity, and archiving.Manage architectural, project and organizational complexity with a proven ability to simplify tough problems and track many moving parts across teams and business domains.Remain conversant with emerging data technologies and strategies.Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master’s degree in a science or engineering field or equivalent working experience

12+ years of experience within a data architecture/data engineering team

In-depth understanding of and experience with various database structures and database platforms (e.g.; Relational, Columnar, Document, Time Series, Column Family, Graph, etc.)

Experience with data modeling logical and physical models for OLTP and OLAP

Expert in designing data processing pipeline architectures

Preferred Qualifications:

Expert level knowledge of API design

Strong familiarity with metadata management and associated processes

Experience gathering and analyzing system requirements

Expert in Java

Knowledge of Python

Expertise in SQL and No-SQL databases

Knowledge of file systems and object storage (AWS S3, EFS, Hadoop, etc.)

Experience with queues and streaming technologies (Kafka, Kinesis, Flink, etc.)

Understanding of Big Data compute (Spark, AWS EMR )

Hands-on knowledge of appropriate tools (enterprise repository, data modeling, data mapping, data profiling and data integration, etc.)

Knowledge of data quality concepts (DQ dimensions, tools, pipelines, stewardship)

Knowledge of AWS cloud architecture and services (S3, EMR, Elasticsearch, ElastiCache, RDS, DynamoDB, Neptune, MSK, etc.)

Distributed systems expertise

Experience using GraphQL

Knowledge of data mining and segmentation techniques

Strong familiarity and experience with analytical database systems (Redshift, Vertica, Snowflake, etc.)

Excellent communication and presentation skills for all levels of an organization
