FIRE ALARM / TECHNOLOGY SYSTEMS DESIGNER
JOB DESCRIPTION
As the Fire Alarm / Technology Systems Designer at Michael Wall Engineering, you will provide design/engineering support for construction projects in the Commercial, Military, Education, Hospitality, Science, and Technology sectors.

SUMMARY OF QUALIFICATIONS
Design of Technology Systems bid and construction documents.
Design of Fire Alarm systems is the primary requirement.
Design of Security (Access Control, Intrusion Detection, CCTV) systems, Voice Data systems, and Nurse Call systems are preferred but secondary to Fire Alarm design.
Design of documents including floor plans, risers, calculations, specifications, and details for Technology systems that are code-compliant and appropriate for the project requirements.
Create and maintain Technology system design standards and details.
Proficiency in the California DSA approval process.
Proficiency in REVIT MEP/AutoCAD MEP.
Coordinate with Project Engineer and/or Team Leadership in regard to project design responsibilities.
Demonstrate proficiency in NFPA 72, BICSI, IBC, and IFC codes and design standards.
Demonstrate an understanding of construction practices and standards.
Interface with Project Electrical Engineers, clients, vendors, and contractors in regard to project design and code requirements.
Ability to travel between San Diego and Orange County offices periodically.
Related tasks as may be assigned by management.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Minimum 5 years of experience in Technology systems design and drawing preparation.
NICET Level III, certification preferred.
Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
Proficient in Auto Desk Building Design Suite 2019 including AutoCAD MEP & Revit MEP.
Familiar with major vendors and materials related to technology systems design and construction.
Proficient in reading and understanding architectural & electrical construction documents.
General computer skills in Windows, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Adobe Acrobat, Blue Beam and Microsoft Outlook.
Strong organizational and excellent communications skills.
Detail-oriented problem solver.
Ability to work effectively in team-structured, fast-paced environment.
Capable of implementing new software, if needed.
