Job Description:

Responsibilities:
  • Works with the project team through multiple design, prototype, and test cycles to evolve parts and methods from concept to qualification.
  • Perform research related to improving, expanding, and replacing core technology capabilities.
  • Provide technical proficiency in fluidics development and technologies.
  • Optimize sample preparation coupled to amplification of nucleic acids.
  • Develop cartridge designs to meet consideration of technical and cost specifications, and delight the customer.
  • Plan, design, and execute experiments while troubleshooting and solving problems.
  • Analyze data, interpret results, and suggest next experiments.
  • Effectively analyze and communicate results in oral and written form.
  • Produce design documentation, resulting from engineering and scientific studies.

Qualifications:
  • Education/Experience/Requirements.
  • B.S./M.S. in Bioengineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Full-time laboratory experience in an industrial setting is preferred.
  • Experience with nucleic acid sample preparation methods, including rapid technologies and clinical matrices.
  • Experience with IVD cartridge and/or system development preferred.
  • Basic understanding of the biochemistry involved in a variety of diagnostic tests.
  • Exceptional observational skills and mindfulness when conducting experiments.
  • Problem-solving skills combined with analytical skills and good attention to detail.
  • Experience with clinical samples using molecular diagnostic technologies.
  • Knowledge of DOE and statistical methods.
  • Inventive, with ability to implement ideas in the laboratory.
  • Ability to work as part of a cross-functional team composed of engineers, scientists, and other specialists.
  • Adaptable to rapidly changing goals and deadlines.
