- Perform wet lab bench experiments as the primary responsibility to develop new methodologies for rapid, high-throughput, automated isolation and analysis of nucleic acids
- Design, execute, and analyze data from experiments, troubleshoot technical issues, and plan next steps to meet required technical specifications
- Effectively communicate scientific results in both written format and orally at group and cross-functional team meetings
- Collaborate with product development teams across the Genomics organization, including virtually with colleagues at remote sites
- Ability to independently drive main projects forward with limited, but appropriate, direction from Team Leads
- Assist in writing product specifications, test plans/reports, and life cycle documentation
- Meticulously document experiments and verification/validation (V&V) studies according to existing Quality Management System
- Ensure all aspects of V&V are conducted according to internal and external quality and regulatory requirements
- MS or PhD in Molecular Biology or related life science field
- At least 5-7 years of post-academic professional laboratory experience, preferably in the regulated molecular diagnostics industry
- Hands-on and theoretical experience with nucleic acid chemistry, molecular biology, and genetics
- Familiar with manual and automated nucleic acid isolation/purification procedures (historical perspective as well as versed in latest technologies) including HPLC, etc.
- Familiar with nucleic acid quantification methods and their various strengths and weaknesses
- Familiar with nucleic acid labeling and detection methods
- Able to manipulate nucleic acids e.g. cloning
- Versed in QPCR/QRT-PCR and related down-stream nucleic acid detection methodologies; prior experience with DNA sequencing technologies preferred
- Ability to develop new methods based on nucleic acid chemistry background with an inventive perspective
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated proficiency with standard scientific analysis software and tools
