SQL Database Developer-Data Modeler (ONSITE in San Diego)

Position Summary: The position will require working directly with end-users (customers) to understand the goals and help design and implement a process flow. Most projects are data and database related so a fair amount of work will require some data modeling and data management. Microsoft SQL Server and C# is the standard DBMS and programming language for in house software development. Knowledge of Angular or Microsoft MVC is a plus. This position supports database design, optimization, and production support for specific projects. The role will require strong data design skills and the ability to work closely with software development engineers to develop robust, scalable, performance systems.

Responsibilities
  • To initially ramp up in understanding of the Current State Processes, Tools and Team Operations working closely with Editorial Team.
  • To effectively manage and maintain Data Repositories associated with the Mitchell1 content.
  • Become the "Data expert" in all current and new projects for the Editorial teams.
  • Develop and maintain best practices, applications, procedures and tools used to provide and maintain content manipulation and ingestion.
  • Assist in all other areas of the Editorial team. Including tasks but not limited to:
    • Assist with Specification data entry tasks.
    • Assist with QA tasks.
    • To undertake RCI duties.
  • Manage the integrity and quality control procedures to ensure continual accuracy and full-functionality of editorial tools.
  • Develop and provide support to other team members.
  • Occasional travel to company sites may be warranted.
  • Liaise with remote colleagues with verbal and written communication.
  • Maintain a 'can-do' attitude in response to Business Needs.
  • Undertake training initiatives as approved by Management.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements
  • Strong Data Programming Skills in SQL (MSSQL)
  • Strong researching, problem solving, and conceptual thinking abilities.
  • The ability to learn new systems, tools, and technologies quickly as needed
  • Experience balancing quick, data-driven, decision-making with attention to quality and accuracy
  • Experience working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
  • Strong inter-personal skills and ability to work as part of a team
  • Excellent time management skills and demonstrated success managing multiple priorities
  • Proficiency Microsoft tools
  • Must be able to read and write in English.

  • Application Development (Desktop/Web)
    • SQL (Required)
    • C#, Angular, MVC
    • PowerShell
  • Strong Microsoft skills preferred.

Physical demands/work environment

  • This is primarily an office-based position requiring significant amount of PC use.
  • Some travel may be required.
