Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Sr. Manager of Equipment Engineering, the Senior Equipment Engineer provides technical support for the improvement, installation, validation and transfer of replicate custom automated equipment used in the scale-up of manufacturing for existing or new products. These duties include leading or supporting cross functional equipment deployment teams while working with outside suppliers to meet equipment specifications and timelines.

Required Qualifications:

Experience planning, evaluation, and execution of equipment commissioning and validation procedures, including FAT, SAT, IQ, and OQ.

Technical writing skills as applied to fmanufacturing documentation and process development in a highly regulated industry- Experienced in the creation and revision of technical documentation. Knowledge of GDP/GMP as they relate to high reliability, high volume manufacturing equipment, and processes. Ability to run self-directed projects, leverage networked team resources, maintain timelines, stay organized, and prioritize multiple activities. Experience procuring and deploying capital equipment and knowledge of capital expenditure processes.

Excellent communication (written and verbal) and personal interaction skills. Demonstrated ability to influence, motivate, and accomplish results through peers and junior level engineers Proven ability to work hands-on in a fast-paced environment. Ability to deal with ambiguity/uncertainty and a willingness to try new/challenging things.

Preferred Qualifications:

Medical device experience Lean Six Sigma or Six Sigma training and certification preferred

Experience in designing, programming, and deploying custom automated manufacturing equipment for use in the medical industry highly desired. Experience with industrial control systems software, SCADA, and related communication protocols is highly desired.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Collaborates with cross functional teams and supports in the improvement and implementation of new replicate custom manufacturing equipment used in the manufacture of products both at internal and external manufacturing sites. Works in close collaboration with Advanced Manufacturing Engineering, Site Engineering, R&D , and outside equipment suppliers to identify and implement improvements to custom equipment solutions that will improve reliability, efficiency, or yields.
Travel to deployment sites, automation vendors, and contract partners to troubleshoot and test sustaining and new automation equipment.
Provide technical input, review, and approval to validation documentation and support the execution of equipment qualifications as needed. Support the successful knowledge and tech transfer of new manufacturing platforms into manufacturing, which could include site to site transfers. Provide technical training to operators, manufacturing engineering and support staff for responsible equipment. Effectively implement problem solving skills and techniques to identify potential equipment risks and develop/implement mitigation plans as needed.
Update equipment related documentations (manuals, drawings, and specifications) as needed. Exercise judgment within defined procedures and policies to determine appropriate action. This position assumes and performs other duties as assigned Demonstrated ability to identify project requirements and develop schedules with little to no assistance from more senior level engineering Actively contribute during technical design reviews. Effectively communicates with broad team on project progress and challenges.
