The Team: The Residential Treatment Center team provides residentially-based behavioral health treatment for youth with developmental disabilities. The program provides comprehensive behavioral, mental health, and educational services within a trauma informed model recognized across the entire State of California. The residential team works in a specially designed milieu where youth receive comprehensive assessment, education, expressive arts, and skills training as well as individual, group, family, and milieu therapy. THE POSITION: Full-Time (40 hours per week) Residential Youth Counselor position at our San Diego - Lemon Grove location.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:The Residential Youth Counselor is responsible for day-to-day care and counseling of at risk teens with special needs in a residential treatment program. The Residential Youth Counselor provides high quality care and ensures the safety of residents, staff, and site in accordance with policy, helping to implement the treatment/behavior plans for each resident in collaboration with an experienced multidisciplinary team. The Residential Youth Counselor also dispenses medications when needed, helps residents to tend to their health and wellness, and may help residents to manage their schedule or attend outside appointments or activities. Participants have complex needs, and the Residential Youth Counselor builds relationships with them and their families in a supportive environment that utilizes a strengths-based, culturally responsive, trauma-informed approach and values compassion, respect, diversity, and accountability.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must Meet One Of The Following Criteria:BA Arts/Science A minimum of one (1) year providing direct care or supervision of youth High School Diploma/GED with one of the following:

a) Valid Child Development teaching permit

b) 12 semester units of Early Childhood Education and 100 hours of work experience with youth

c) Valid certificate as Alcohol Counselor

d) Valid Vocational Training certificate

e) Previous relevant experience as determined by the California Department of Social Services
