Forward Slope, Inc. is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to support the integration of new, upgraded, and refurbished systems, subsystems, and capabilities into the Syun An network. The position is located in San Diego, CA.
Responsibilities:
Designs, plans and implements modern network communications systems. Provides specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture. Conducts cost/benefit analysis and provides specific detailed information for equipment (hardware and software) selection, implementation techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet the business and technical needs of the project. Conducts testing of network design including analysis and assessment of current networking equipment to determine obsolescence issues and potential vulnerabilities and recommend appropriate upgrades and replacements. Responsible for monitoring network hardware operations to ensure properly set configuration options. Plans implementation of enhancements and upgrades to the network and lead a multi-year network modernization effort to implement modern networking architecture and hardware. Advises network users of hardware requirements, configurations, and limitations. Maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc. Evaluates and reports on new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network. May be assigned responsibility for the management of the systems administration and cyber security function, including associated staff.
Job Description:
Senior Network Engineer is responsible for Syun An network analysis to include:
Assessment and testing of current networking equipment to determine obsolescence issues and potential vulnerabilities, and recommend replacements
Lead multi-year technical modernization effort to redesign network architecture to
- Implement modernized design practices and equipment
- Put in place state-of-the-art equipment
- Ensure optimal cyber security posture
Required Qualifications:
Minimum B.S. Degree in an Engineering field (such as electrical engineering or mechanical engineering) and eight (8) to ten (10) years’ experience
Must be able to provide project leadership and technical direction to the implementation of network projects and upgrades
Must have extensive knowledge and experience with routing protocols such as EIGRP, BGP, OSPF
Must have extensive knowledge and experience with complex routing, switching, firewall and VPN technologies
Must be able to diagnose and resolve network hardware and software problems associated with the data center infrastructure
Must be able to provide final-tier support for problem determination and resolution for networks and attached devices and services
Must be able to provide technical expertise related to data center systems to management or other engineers for incident or planning purposes
Must have experience and knowledge of DR (Disaster Recovery) planning and execution
Must be willing to travel out of the country for several weeks to austere locations (such as Africa, Eastern Europe, and Asia) (10-20% travel)
Must have an active and current SECRET security clearance
