Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Sr. Principal Systems Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in San Diego, CA. The selected candidate will work closely with our Program Team in various engineering functions, and suppliers to ensure the overall system meets all performance requirements and resolving technical and programmatic issues as they arise. Essential Functions: Understand and document product baselines down to hardware and software component level Root cause identification and anomaly resolution of large-scale systems Comfortable and fluent in IT systems administration and deployment Act as a systems engineering and integrator of hardware and software into the Global Hawk system Understanding of System Version Descriptions, Software Manuals, Network Description Documents Familiarity with JIRA software tool (and/or similar) for agile development environment Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's in Science degree in an STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) with 9 years of related engineering experience; or a Master's in STEM with 7 years of engineering related experience; or a PhD in STEM with 4 years of engineering related experience An active DoD Secret Clearance Experience in Systems Engineering Experience in IT Systems Administration Candidate must be familiar with Information Technology tools and System Administration, and be comfortable working hands-on in a lab or deployed field environment. Candidate must be able to collaborate closely with systems, software, and networking engineers, as well as field service representatives. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in the Design, Deployment, Production, and Fielding of enterprise information systems Experience in computer networking Experience in VMware, Red Hat Linux, Windows Server Experience with automated system deployment tools Experience with system hardening or application of security controls Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
