Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking for a Staff System Security Engineer (SSE) to support a capture program in San Diego, CA. Essential Functions: The SSE will be responsible for applying Systems Engineering and computer engineering principles to develop solutions that address top level customer requirements and mission effectiveness. The SSE will collaborate across engineering disciplines and communicate regularly with the SSE Lead and Program leadership. The SSE will also work within a team to help the program build a foundation to achieve airworthiness and NAVAIR CYBERSAFE certification. Provide analysis, design, development, implementation and security assessments to ensure compliance with National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Special Publication (SP) 800-53, CNSSI 1253, and DoD RMF Knowledge Service guidance. Serve as a Cyber Security engineer supporting high-level technical and practical expertise Recommend and implement system enhancements that will improve the performance, reliability, and security of the system including installing, upgrading, monitoring, problem resolution, and configuration Provide analysis and recommendations on Cyber accreditation packages to obtain operational accreditations. Basic Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in a STEM discipline plus 14 years of relevant engineering experience, OR a Master's Degree in a STEM discipline with 12 years of relevant experience; OR a PhD with 9 years of relevant experience Active Secret DoD Clearance or higher Experience in a formal leadership role or leading a multi-disciplinary team Direct experience with DoD C&A activities, security processes, and documentation/reporting using RMF, DIACAP, NIST, CNSSI, or NISPOM guidance as required Preferred Qualifications: Advanced degrees in Engineering, Software, or Science Some experience with Anti-Tamper, Reverse Engineering, or Cryptography Familiarity with basic systems engineering principles and concepts Some experience in technical leadership role Experience working with Government AT agencies Possession of an appropriate certification as required by DoD Directive 8570 (such as CISSP, Security+) for an IASAE Level II Position Have fundamental knowledge of Systems Engineering practices, network technologies, system development life-cycles and methodologies, and insight into information technology infrastructure management/monitoring and applications Understand how their tasks fit within the overall program operational objectives and perform their work accordingly, have strong verbal/written communication skills, the ability to work well within a team environment, and strong analytical capabilities with the interest in applying troubleshooting skills and techniques to solve problems Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
